Ghanaians Are Now Proudly Walking the Talk through “Dumsor”

....& Movement for Change Demos

The agonising economic situation Ghanaians have been compelled to put up with for the past few years under the Atta Mills/John Mahama and John Mahama/Arthur-Amissah NDC-led governments has reached a horrendous peak. They can no longer tolerate the abuse of power through blatant acts of despicable corruption, exhibition of complete nonchalance and cluelessness by the President and his Ministers. These coupled with the obvious show of utter callousness and disrespect for the citizenry by the current "yen ntie obiaa" leadership of Ghana have highly infuriated the masses.

The shameless resolve by the John Mahama government to persist in corrupt acts to the detriment of Ghanaians has culminated in the current deplorable situation of "dumsor", the like of which has never been seen in the annals of the electricity production and distribution in Ghana.

The "dum, dum, dumsor" (power outages for days) has caused the collapse of many industries and small scale businesses reliant on power supply to operate. Cold store operators, tailors & seamstresses, hairdressers, mechanics at Kumasi Suame and their colleagues throughout Ghana with big factories are all collapsing by the day. Armed robbers and other categories of thieves are having a field day following the "dum, dum, dumsor"

Alas, Ghanaians are being impoverished by the myopic policies of the government. Like a hunter that does not know a sick animal when in the bush and on a hunting expedition, but kills any animal that comes into sight, so does the "dumsor" not know who belongs in NDC or NPP to discriminate positively against one, but not the other. When it hits, it affects all across the board, both the NDC and NPP members and sympathisers.

This is why Ghanaians cutting across party lines, joined the "Dumsor" demo organised in Accra by the NPP on Thursday 19 February 2015. People from all walks of life, regardless of their party affiliations, joined hands with the Movement for Change in the "Yabre" demonstration organised in Kumasi on Wednesday 25 February 2015.

I am extremely happy that the once docile "Fa ma Nyame; gyae ma enka" Ghanaians, are reacting peacefully, although angrily to the unstoppable thievery by the government that has brought about the current hardships upon them. They are now walking the talk to salvage any little respect left for Ghanaians as human beings.

More demos are slated for 6 March 2015 alongside Ghana's 58th Independence anniversary celebrations. What at all makes Ghanaians proud to celebrate the independence after all the hardships they have been going through under President Mahama? They should prefer the demo to the independence celebration. The independence celebration can be put on hold while urgent needs are addressed first.

Does a soldier not walk on his stomach? If you are dying under "dumsor" and "Yabre" will you have the strength and joy to celebrate the nation's independence?

Keep up the walk to put Mahama on his toes, if not to put him to flight.

Bravo Ghanaians, you have now seen the light. No longer cope with that onslaught of corruption, erratic power supply, and collapse of your businesses as directly caused by the actions and inactions of the Mahama government.
