How Leading NDC figures betrayed Alfred Woyome

“…hypocrites & parasites will come up and take a bite if your night should turn to day now a lot of people will run away…” -Bob Marley (Who the cap fits)

Alfred Agbesi Woyome may not have thought, as he doled out his hard-earned millions and billions to help the NDC come to power, that this same party will someday have him seized in the street Gestapo-style like a common criminal and locked up in police cells for almost two weeks because he got a court judgement to have money paid to him for work he believes he did for government.

The businessman obviously never thought, while he was paying the school fees of NDC big wigs, giving them money to set up lucrative businesses, buying them homes and cars, sending them abroad, paying for their medical bills, giving them huge sums of monies to make them comfortable that a day will come when almost all of them will deny they were his friends or that they benefited from him.

Not in Alfred Woyome’s wildest imagination did he ever think that the radio station where he sometimes took to paying salaries of the workers to keep them surviving, where he got security men to protect it from pro-NPP thugs in the run-up to the 2008 elections, will be the same radio station on whose airwaves he will be vilified and criminalized.

Alfred Agbesi Woyome helped the NDC to see life; now they are ‘helping’ him to see death.

The Daily Post can say with all the authority at its disposal that save for National Chairman, Kwabena Adjei, General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu-Nketia, Propaganda Secretary, Richard Quarshigah and a couple of others, NDC leading figures and government appointees who used to troop to the residence of Mr. Alfred Woyome even when he is yet to get out of bed to collect money for party activities when the NDC was in opposition and for themselves as well have done everything possible to severe ties with him since the brouhaha over the CAN 2008 judgement debt payment saga broke out.

Virtually all of them, displaying the characteristics of biblical Simon Peter who denied Jesus three times, now pretend they don’t know him from Adam. Their behaviour is not because they believe he is guilty; it is simply because they are afraid of the tin-gods in the government who are after Woyome. These tin- gods have indicated by their posturing that anyone who even commiserates with him will be dealt with. So, to protect their privileged positions, they prefer to sacrifice their friend, Alfred Woyome, never minding whether he will be killed in the process or jailed.

They used to troop to Alfred Woyome’s residence to collect millions, if not billions of cedis for party work at a time many of the people who are swearing they love President Mills so much today and are vilifying him (Woyome) said they had quit politics, were not prepared to put their money into the party or did not want to be identified with the NDC. Of course the millions some of these people collected ended up in their own pockets. And when the going was good, they swore their undying friendship for Alfred Woyome. But today, like Peter who said he will lay down his life for Jesus, they are distancing themselves from him. These conscienceless members of the NDC are not prepared to lose their positions for a friend from whose palms they virtually ate. So, they looked on sheepishly while professional traitor, Kwesi Pratt and his conies tried to convince Ghanaians that he is not an NDC person.

Alfred Woyome’s agony, as the very party he led to see life continue to drag him towards the slaughter house is definitely the way his NDC friends have turned against him. His consolation is the fact that the grassroots have ignored all the lies that he is NPP, all the vilification by the sycophants and the attempts to criminalize him.

While he was at the police cells at the police headquarters, it was they who visited him daily. It was their sight which gave him hope. Ironically, most of these people are not the ones who benefitted from him. But, they kept vigil night and day at the police headquarters, because they understood what was happening; they could not allow what was happening to happen to a man who lived for others; they knew that man’s inhumanity to man was at work.

Daily Post, will in the next issue, publish the names of some of those who benefitted from Alfred Woyome but today are have turned their backs on him. With such people as friends, who needs an enemy? More Anon
