How a young Ghanaian seeking to join the British army’s Visa refusal was swiftly over turned

I have worked on several visa refusal cases at Adukus Solicitors in London but this particular case is distinguishably exciting for me, for the client and the person who put him in touch with me.

Just last week, a friend of mine who is the CEO of KenKuus Estate and Farms in Ghana contacted me about a family friend who had passed his British Army medical assessment in Ghana and was due to fly to the UK for his other assessments but had been refused his UK visitor visa which was to enable him come to the UK for the full Army Assessment.

They were heavily disappointed about the visa refusal which they deemed unreasonable and therefore asked me to legally challenge it on their behalf.

After my phone consultation with them, I asked to see all their supporting documents which they sent to me via Email. And after a careful assessment of these documents, I also concluded that the refusal was unreasonable and that the Entry Clearance Officer erred—he did not apply the facts and evidence as they were presented.

Time was of great essence as the client had already been given a date by the British Army to be in the UK for the assessment and therefore the unexpected refusal had already derailed the plans.

So on Thursday of last week, I dedicated my entire day at the office to work on this client’s legal representation which I sent to the Home Office/UK Visas the same day, challenging the unreasonable decision to refuse my client’s visitor’s visa.

I sent off my legal representation on Thursday, 21 February 2019 and yesterday (26 February 2019), the Home Office replied to say in light of the legal representation/challenge, they have had another look at the application/refusal and have now overturned the refusal. The client is to submit his passport for the visa to enable him to visit the UK for the Army assessment (see attached).

This young man (my client) told me it has always been his dream to join the British Army and this dream which was almost shattered by the visa refusal is back on path.

I am excited for him and I wish him luck with his British Army assessment. I know several Ghanaians (some who are friends) in the British Army and they are making a difference out there.

If you have been refused a visa to the UK including a visitor’s visa, all hope is not lost. If the refusal is unreasonable, you can legally challenge it and have the refusal overturned.
