Stanbic Bank Ghana won four awards at the Corporate Governance Excellence Awards held by the Institute of Directors Ghana (IoD-GH) last Friday at Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
The Bank was named Best in Corporate Governance for the Universal Bank Category and Overall Best in Corporate Governance while its Chief Executive Alhassan Andani was named the Most Influential Director of the Year and Overall Director of the Year.
Alhassan Andani dedicated his awards to his team at Stanbic and the Ghana Association of Bankers who made it possible for him to be recognized in an era of challenges in the financial services sector.
He pledged that the sector would aim to raise the bar even higher to ensure that the best practices in corporate governance are applied in the sector.
The award ceremony was part of the three-day international conference on corporate governance which had the theme Optimizing the Growth of SMEs While Globalizing Big Corporates: The Role of Good Corporate Governance. Professor Mervyn King, the Ambassador of African Corporate Governance Network delivered the keynote address.
In addition to the awards event, there was a conference and masterclass on corporate governance. The event was partnered by the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
