John Dramani Mahama is intent on winning election 2024 on populism

Sadly, Ghanaians are about to shoot themselves in the foot by rallying behind Mr John Dramani Mahama in his campaign to stage a comeback to the presidency.

Many Ghanaians have lost sight of the worldwide economic hardships. They have come to believe the lies being told by NDC and Mr John Dramani Mahama, pinning down the prevailing economic hardships in Ghana on President Nana Akufo-Addo and his NPP government.

They intentionally fail to factor in the external shocks, thus, the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

Any level-headed person will understand the impact of the external shocks on Ghana's economy of which President Nana Akufo-Addo has absolutely no control. Except for the partisan ones so polarised by the dirty politics in the country that will buy into all the lies the NDC and John Mahama are throwing into the public domain, the fair-minded ones will watch before they leap.

Yes, there is rife official corruption in Ghana that is also contributing to the failing economy. However, the main causes of the hardships must not be overlooked.

What annoys me most is how John Mahama acknowledges the impact of Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war on the world economy when he goes abroad and gets interviewed by overseas journalists but with a snake-split tongue, he says differently when in Ghana.

Insisting that he is policies-cum-programmes deficient person otherwise unfit to contest for the highest official position in any advanced Whiteman’s country, in Ghana, he is worshipped as a God-send saviour and hero. What a pity!

The man is always playing populist politics. Yesterday, he was promising to licence Okada drivers if he wins the election 2024 to the applause of the Okada drivers and their owners.

The other time he was promising the illegal small-scale and alluvial miners government resources and his personal support if they voted him to power.

Today, he is giving assurance to the owners of the five banks (UniBank Ghana Limited, The Royal Bank Limited, Beige Bank Limited, Sovereign Bank Limited, and Construction Bank Limited) collapsed into Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited, that he will give their banks back to them if he wins election 2024. This is another of his populist but shallow-minded ideas to trick many a politically unsavvy Ghanaian electorate into voting for him.

Were the banks collapsed and consolidated on tribal, political, or regional witch-hunt, or they were consolidated because of established malfeasance and uncovered potent malpractices that were already strangulating the financial sector of the economy by the said banks?

Being such a populist politician craving for political power at all costs, he will give promises to whom he needs their votes even if he cannot deliver the promises or such promises are not economically sound.

Has he not said that he will lie to his audience during the electioneering campaign provided such lies will turn their hearts toward him to vote for him?

Most of the shallow-minded policies and programmes he has already made known to Ghanaians are not what it takes to develop and build a nation.

Who are those coaching John Mahama to come out with such laughable baby policies only good to fool the little minds to vote for him?

The other day, it was the promise to resource young interested Ghanaian farmers by providing them with a few chicks each, a little fund, and a small coop. They will rear them, sell the eggs they produce when grown and sell them when they are no longer producing eggs, to raise money for themselves.

Who at all are the policy advisers to Mr John Mahama aka “Mr Dead Goat” of the “Ede bii keke” NDC family? Their policies are not sound enough.

When his political opponent Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is coming out with policies and programmes able to take Ghana into the sphere of economic advancement all things going smoothly without any sabotage, Mr Mahama’s policies will stagnate Ghana, if not retrogress her progress.

The NDC is only overflowing with lies. They are always issuing threats as though they are the only ones able to spit out red saliva. Everyone has red saliva in their mouth, but they choose to spit out white saliva, so an adage goes.

Until Mr Mahama thinks big and comes out with bold policies and programmes that he can sincerely execute when given the nod to become the next president of Ghana come December 2024, I will always treat him as a misfit for president.

Ghanaians, please don’t be dissuaded by the current economic hardships confronting Ghana to not vote for Dr Bawumia. He will perform much better as president than Mr Mahama.

Ghanaians, please don’t be fooled by the populist policies of Mr Mahama.

To win votes and the hearts of the galamsey guys, he promises to resource and encourage them to expand their activities. Does he care about Ghana's water bodies, fertile and arable lands and forests that come under destruction because of the galamsey activities? No!

The less I talk about Mr John Dramani Mahama, much the better.

The NDC should have gone for Dr Kwabena Duffour to give them more credibility. The man is honest. He thinks big and overflows with sound ideas that can take Ghana forward same as Dr Bawumia does.

Kennedy Agyapong (Hon.), where are you? Why are you so silent? It’s not over until it’s over. Please come out to support Dr Bawumia to win election 2024.
