John Dramani Mahama scuttling off presidential debate against Dr Mahamudu Bawumia

When the big brain emerges or speaks, the smaller brain shudders and dissipates like the morning dew that evaporates into the thin air with the rising sun.

Yes, the Ghanaian economy, like many others the world over, is facing worrying challenges. Most of these challenges have come about because of the obvious COVID-19 pandemic, exacerbated by the ongoing Russian-Ukraine war.

Additionally, official politicians' infatuation with corruption may have played a role in the case of Ghana.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukraine war are the two most devastating factors impacting the economy and the well-being of Ghana. This is an indisputable fact that only a person living in self-denial, or NDC diehards like Messrs. John Dramani Mahama, Sammy Gyamfi, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, and Okudjeto Ablakwah, will dare deny it.

Do you know the percentage of world fertiliser, wheat grains, and sunflower cooking oil produced and exported by Ukraine? Do you know the percentage of natural gas and petroleum oil produced and exported by Russia? With the war, all such productions and exports have been badly impacted.

Major shipping lines have increased their freight charges. Insurers of shipping companies have increased their insurance premiums because of the likelihood of ships getting attacked, damaged, and incurring heavy repair costs.

In the simple economic theory of demand and supply, as the quantity of supply has been curtailed for obvious reasons, the needed commodities are becoming scarce on the market, but if the demand stays the same or goes up, prices will surely go up. Who bears the brunt of the cost, if not the final consumer like you and me?

However, Mr. John Mahama and his teeming NDC supporters and sympathisers have been going about and around the country, misinforming the public that all the economic hardships currently faced by Ghanaians are solely caused by President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. What a populist tactic employed by the little brain to deceive Ghanaians into voting for him!

Yes, Ghanaians, like their counterparts elsewhere in the world, are facing economic challenges, a situation worsened by COVID-19 and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

Now that Mr. John Mahama has been given the opportunity handed to him on a silver platter to tell the whole nation and the world that the alleged incompetence, corrupt practices, and mismanagement by President Nana Akufo-Addo and his NPP have plunged the nation into economic hardship, he is jumping ship.

Is the presidential debate not the proper avenue for him to authenticate his many allegations of incompetence, corruption, and mismanagement against President Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bawumia, and the NPP government?

Is the presidential debate not the arena to explain his 24-hour economic policy convincingly and exhaustively to the whole world? The 24-Hour Economy is his most touted engine for creating abundant jobs in the country for the people.

Is the presidential debate not the right forum to tell how he will use artificial intelligence (AI) to successfully fight the devastating illegal small-scale and alluvial mining (galamsey) in Ghana?

Why is he running away from this most important chance offered him to prove his ability and capability to govern Ghana better if voted for in December 2024?

He goes about saying the whole nation is fed up with the NPP government and that Dr. Bawumia, aka the “driver’s mate,” is responsible for the economic mess and hence will be rejected en masse by the Ghanaian electorate in his attempt to win the election to become the next president of Ghana.

If all his allegations against Dr. Bawumia are nothing but the absolute truth, why is he avoiding a presidential debate against his far bigger brain?

Dr. Bawumia will have floored Mr. Mahama on every subject area (economy, security, health, food sufficiency, etc.) that a question is asked; hence, out of fear of ruining his now seeming golden chance of winning the election easy-peasy, he is playing it safe by staying away from the debate.

Shame on him.

Easier said than done. He easily accuses and points fingers, but when he is offered the chance to prove his allegations and/or worth, he scuttles off like a dog with its tail tucked in between its two hind legs. Hahahahaa!

Please, fellow Ghanaians, don’t fall for the lies by the NDC and their Chief Liar, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, because they have no credible policies and programmes to uplift the nation and your wellbeing.
