There is no doubt that Joy FM is one of the most respected stations in Ghana.
O yes, it is the oldest private station and it has built a reputation for itself.
However, since 2009, when the NDC won power, Joy has been acting in a weird manner.
Joy FM has been pursuing an obvious anti-NDC agenda and last week, they made it quite clear that they are anti-Government.
When you listen to Joy news bulletins these days, you will think that you are listening to some bogus station which belongs to a member of the narcotics peddlers party.
Especially when people like Evans Mensah are reading the news or anchoring the Morning Show on Fridays, it stinks to the high heavens.
Evans Mensah does not hide his pro-NPP stance at all. He sees nothing good in the NDC Administration and is full of nothing but cynicism.
It was Evans Mensah (when Kodjo Oppong Nkrumah was on leave) who got some school kids on the Super Morning Show to discuss the economy. How strange!
Obviously, Evans and his paymasters were hell-bent on painting a gloomy picture of the economy.
It was the selfsame Evans Mensah who anchored that so-called Economic Forum last year which was expected to do maximum damage to President Atta Mills and the economy but took a different twist when the Holy Spirit spoke to Mr. Kwame Pianim to say that President Atta Mills is incorruptible.
People like Kwaku Baako have become demi gods on Joy FM.
Kwaku Baako can say anything on Newsfile and get away with it.
Let Kakra Essamuah or David Annan try to move on a certain anti-NPP tangent, and they will be stopped in their tracks.
Trying very hard to muddy the waters in the wake of Baby Ansabah’s confession, Joy FM last week put out a news item to the effect that Vice President John Mahama paid Baby Ansabah to do what he is doing.
According to the news item, the Vice President is the one blackmailing (Baby Ansabah knocked down and killed a pastor last year and the veep is supposed to be asking Baby to do what he is doing so that the case will not go to court) Baby Ansabah to do what he is doing.
Yes, that is the reckless, irresponsible and shameful statement that Joy FM put out without an iota of evidence.
Now it has come to light that Joy FM concocted the story.
Did I hear that Joy has apologized? Shame on them!!!
So if Joy FM is in also in the business of concocting stories, what is the difference between Joy and Baby Ansabah?
Joy FM in its desperate attempt to do dirty propaganda work for the NPP, has behaved like the fly that followed the corpse into the grave.
For reasons best known to Joy FM, they don’t review papers like The Ghanaian Lens and The Informer.
They are prepared to review any useless paper that comes from the stable of the NPP but are selective in reviewing pro-NDC papers.
Also, in reviewing the pro-NDC newspaper stories, they are also selective.
Last week, there was a story that The Daily Post carried about Ursula Owusu; Ato Kwamena Dadzie deliberately refused to review it.
Prior to that, there was another story that was ignored.
Let the Daily Guide or any of the pro-NPP papers write a useless and outright silly story; it would be reviewed with glee on Joy FM.
Ato and co review Daily Guide’s cartoons with a lot of relish.
Let any pro-NDC paper carry a cartoon, it would be ignored.
A certain Alhaji Halidu Haruna, has made it public that two of Joy FM’s reporters (Stephen Anti & Sammy Darko) have been caught on camera demanding $5,000 from a Deputy Information Minister - saying that in the days of Kufuor, they were on a $5,000 retainer a month to do work for the NPP. How shameful!!!
Well, now that Joy FM has succeeded in making it clear that they are pro-NPP and anti-NDC, some of us will know how to deal with them.
Whatever respect I had for Joy is gone and henceforth, I know how to deal with them.
No wonder, Asempa FM (the youngest in the Multimedia stable) is gaining more credibility than Joy FM.
O yes, Asempa FM is doing a very professional job and hitting hard at both the NDC and NPP when the need arises. In like manner, praise is given where it is due.
Joy will never hit hard the NPP; at best, they will ask a few innocuous questions and allow the matter to pass.
Frances Essiam misbehaved and was whipped at Koforidua; Joy FM and co made a meal out of it.
Akufo-Addo’s thugs beat up an Allan Cash boy to pulp and Joy treated it is a normal event.
Joy FM too in the business of fabricating and concocting stories? Lord have mercy on Ghanaian journalism.
Let Joy FM be in the know that DISCERNING MINDS ARE LISTENING!!!
By the way, how come Ransford Tetteh, Audrey Gadzekpo and Professor Kwame Karikari are silent on the Joy matter but were quick to pass judgment on Baby Ansabah? By their fruits we shall surely know them.
