Kwesi Pratt Jnr.: The Last of the Confused Socialist Hypocrites

*By Akadu Ntiriwa Mensema Ph. D.; Post-Grad. Dipl.

“‘ We did not criticize the NPP administration for the fun of it or because

we hated the administration … give me the Kufuor administration and give me

the Mills administration and I will select the Mills administration. Look at

the gap, look at the difference between the two administrations – I am not

shy, I am not ashamed of saying that I prefer the Mills administration any

day, to the Kufuor administration’”

Kwesi Pratt Jnr. (Ghanaweb Dec 14, 2009).

Kwesi osee yee osee yee ratty Pratt

The perennial political rat of our time

The aging political nomad of our time

The socialist opportunist in waiting

The seasoned master of grandiose

But vacuous noisy anti-NPP protests

Enmeshed in ruinous political trajectory

Who was left behind by other socialists

Deserted by other thievery socialist rats

Like the Ahwois, Tiskatas, PV Obengs

Socialists who have never worked

For their wealth but have stolen it

Pratt deserted by the thievery socialist rats

In the political wilderness of poverty

While they amassed stolen wealth

Amidst condoning the use of violence

None of the socialists spoke ever did

Against the killing of the judges

Against the feminization of violence

Not even Simpa Panyin Mills at the time

Socialist opportunist thieves and killers

Intellectuals who use their education

As tools of predatory thievery politics

Who used to wear threadbare shirts at Legon

Who wore tattered old shoes at Legon

Today are filthy rich king-makers

And coward Ghanaians love them

But at least Rawlings identified them

He called them “bastards” and “thieves”

Kwesi osee yee osee yee ratty Pratt

He sang like a caged socialist bird

Ratty Pratt sang and danced

At his own political theater

Bearing his big bulging buck teeth

At juicy NPP developments

Is now praising confused Mills

While Ghanaians are suffering

Pratt will no longer protest

He will not sing like a caged bird

Having been sent to South Africa

To rub his buck-teeth on soccer balls

By the sectionalist Ewe-led Mills

Pratt is now praising Mills/NDC

Kwesi osee yee osee yee ratty Pratt

In the streets and gutters of Ghana

Pratt called the NPP into question

Pratt protested the NPP’s petrol pricing

Although Mills promised to reduce petrol price

Mills overnight increased petrol prices

Pratt will not take to the streets to shout

Pratt is praising Mills for seizing toilets

Pratt is praising NDC for brutalizing journalists

Pratt likes Mills’ Ewerized government

Pratt is praising the NDC for its violence

Pratt is praising Simpa Mills for allowing

Rawlings to call his ministers bastards

Pratt’s visionary injunctions deserted him

Kwesi osee yee osee yee ratty Pratt

The perennial protester has found a home

He has come out of the socialist cage

At last he has found his second calling

Among the socialist thieves & murderers

Who have raped Ghana since 1979

The educated elites that should know better

Have become watersheds of reckless shame

That weave our traumatic sordid histories

Delirious thievery foes are now our saviors

Kwesi Pratt’s eternal seductive narrative

Is all about wanton opportunism in waiting

That snake-like intersects our political greed

Pratt’s buck-teething mouthful is full

Of evocative appreciation of the virus

Of the virus of our time: political opportunism
