Letter From The President: Un-innovative nation

Countrymen and women, loyalists and opponents,
I am a very happy man this week ? and it has nothing whatsoever to do with my electoral victory. It all has to do with the feats of Prof. Frempong Boateng and his team at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. The eminent heart surgeon is a man I truly admire and his innovation, which has reportedly saved billions of cedis for the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital is a real strike of genius. Once again, I doff off my heart to an illustrious son of Sikaman. His is not one of those cut and paste inventions that annoyed me early this year (like the army?s needless mutilation of a very expensive car - all in the name of ?inventing? a ceremonial car which can only be used once in a year.

Dr. Frempong Boateng and his team simply decided to work with one of the most basic of universal truths ? observation prompts repetition, which leads to imitation. Immitation is not an end in itself. It could lead to innovation. Prof Boateng and his team members just studied the technology which was used for the manufacture of the tube which drains blood and other unwanted liquids from the heart cavity. Then they came to the realization that it would be more economical for the nation and the hospital if the equipment was manufactured here with local raw materials.
