Ma'am/Sir,

Earlier this week, we sent a mass mail to Ghanaians and Ghana supporters on our email lists.

We are asking you now to lend your powerful collective voices to the "Fair Trade Oil Share-Ghana (FTOS-Gh)" campaign to secure more oil revenues for Ghana's oil and gas. Please ask the President of Ghana, Mr. Mahama, and Mr. Adjaho (the Speaker of Parliament), to withdraw the oil bill called "Ghana Hybrid System" from Parliament immediately.

This FTOS-Gh campaign is in support of Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for oil and gas produced in Ghana. The PSA is the "gold" standard that countries (from Nigeria, to the United Kingdom, to Canada, to Angola, etc,) use to collect a fair share of oil produced in those countries.

The PSA is recommended by the US government.

The so-called "Ghana Hybrid System" has cheated Ghana billions of dollars. It is a fraud on Ghana that gives Ghana only 17% out of 100. It is not recommended or approved by the US government.

For instance, over the last 5 years, Ghana has lost more than $6 billion from Jubilee Oil Fields through the "hybrid system". That $6 billion was not paid to Ghana to be used to build schools, clinics, hospitals, libraries, bridges, or to construct roads for Ghanaians to improve safety, or to build their lives, and the Ghanaian economy.

That $6 billion was not used to create jobs for Ghanaians.

Rather, the $6 billion, in addition to their share and profits, was kept by the oil companies. All of that money was transferred outside Ghana to the United Kingdom, United States, and other western capitals.

Please ask Mr. Mahama and Mr. Adjaho, the Speaker of Parliament, to withdraw the oil exploration and production (E&P) bill called "Ghana Hybrid System" from Parliament immediately. Ask them to adopt the PSA what will ensure Ghana gets more than 50% of oil revenues to build more schools, more clinics, more hospitals, more libraries, more bridges, more good roads, and to create more jobs for Ghanaians.
