President John Evans Atta Mills has issued a stern warning to persons who are scheming to create the impression that the country is insecure.
The President who was commending the Chiefs and people of Bawku for the relative peace in the area said the country cannot develop if peace and harmony are not visible.
Sounding very emotional and incensed, the President said “If we want development, we must all be prepared to ensure that there is peace and harmony.
Unfortunately there seem to be some people who want to create fear and panic only to propagate a feeling of fear and insecurity amongst our people. I want to send a message to those people, they will not succeed. Let me repeat, those who want to destabilize the process will not succeed.
Ok! Mr. President this is more than a clear message but what sort of effective and concrete decision has been tabled so far to ensure the relief of the Ghanaian people from further armed robbery attacks which are currently vehemently prevailing on almost all the major roads in the country?
Despite the fact that you said “I have directed the law enforcement agencies to deal appropriately and decisively with those who decide that peace is not what they want”.
I think apart from the decision of the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Mr. Timbilia to secure all Kumasi to Northern Region Transports buses with his agents nothing else is in progress. What about the other major roads in the country?
If Anita de Sousa (NDC Women organizer) can be permitted to take 15 cars free from the harbor to campaign only for the NDC Party as claimed by some NDC foot-Soldiers, then the Ghana Police service can definitely be given more than necessary petrol cars to facilitate an effective security network in the various parts of Country in the name of all the Ghanaian citizens.
There can never be any tangible or good reasons for any Ghanaian to instill fear in people, but fact is, it is happening and therefore the Ghanaian people are really leaving in panic and fear of armed robbery.
Who is going to invest in a nation that has a feeling of insecurity?
Who is going to bring his resources into the country if the citizens are already living in fear?
If the tendency is clear to see that People want to create panic and fear and do not want the progress of this nation then all what we have to do is to STOP BLAME GAMES and rather act swiftly to ensure some tight security measures to fight against the insecurities like Armed Robbery in the country.
President Mills reiterated that the NDC government has a vision of investing in people and would continue to improve education which is crucial to achieving that goal. “We have begun to tackle seriously the elimination of schools under trees. In a few months’ time, you will begin to see that our promise has been fulfilled” he noted.
He mentioned the distribution of free text books, uniforms, and an improvement in the school feeding program as some of the educational initiatives that have been put in place.
I could remember, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah said in 1957 “The independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it is linked with the total liberation of the African continent”.
Mr. President it is all good, well and nice but how can all the above mentioned plans pertaining to improvements in the schools work if some teachers are not paid their monthly salaries over a YEAR?
Pay the Poor Teachers and give more cars and more security aspects to the Police.
