NPP Is Desperately Desperate

By Ekua Kwansema

The rumour that emerged yesterday that the NPP was going to ask the courts to stop the Electoral Commission (EC) from announcing the winner in the presidential election on Friday became a reality when on an important national holiday as January 1, the NPP rushed to the Fast Track Court with an ex-parte application for an injunction on the EC to declare the winner in the presidential race.

And before I proceed I would like Ghanaians to know that it was the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood who empanelled the court to hear the application which was filed by Peter Mac Manu, one of the most desperate men on the planet today. Look at the speed with which Georgina Wood asked the Fast Track Court to hear the motion filed by the NPP. And it¢s this same Chief Justice under whose watch drivers were jailed or heavily fined under an outdated traffic law that no longer exists in Ghana law books. I pity this lady who should have resigned in shame but is still hanging on in shame.

Now I want to move on to other serious issues about this case. If the NPP is not a dubious party, I do not know what to label them. The application filed by the NPP is called ex-parte which according to my basic understanding is a motion where one party files without having to serve notice to the other party or parties involved in the case. Therefore, if the party or parties involved in the case are not served notice or notices, it means there is no way a judge can hear their side of the story. In view of this if you file an ex-parte motion the judge hearing the case has to rule without giving due representation to the others involved in the case. To explain further the ex-parte motion is a one-sided motion. As a result the NPP did not serve notices to the NDC and the EC which are parties to the case. Such a diabolical plan hatched under the watchful eyes of Akufo-Addo.

Before I proceed further I would like to say that God is on the side of Ghana . For many years our dear country has seen neighboring and other countries explode with violence and war, but God¢s stable hands have prevented something like that from happening in Ghana . In view of all this, it beats my imagination why some few self-seeking NPP people like Mac Loser, Kwabena Agyepong, Ohene Ntow and Kennedy Adumadze would indulge in acts that has the potential of exploding into something if care is not taken. Sometimes I cry when I deeply ponder over this. I cry for my beloved country. I cry for the kingdom that is being broken slowly by these NPP people.

But in boiling times like this God has always used very few people to put things right. And that is what God did through Justice Amoako Asante at the Fast Track Court today. Justice Asante (You are my hero of the year), was used by God to dent a blow to the case. After listening to the NPP he ruled that since this case is one of the most important cases in the country that has the potential to affect the fate of the country, the NPP should serve notices to the NDC and EC who are both parties to the case. Justice Asante also asked the NDC to respond to the notice by 11 a.m. on Saturday. What a relief. What a thoughtful judge. What a wonderful person. Can Chief Justice Wood emulate Justice Asante?

Throughout this election process both Ghanaians and foreign observers are coming to terms as to which party is a treat to democracy in Ghana and also who are the real trouble makers. For the benefit of those who did not hear the whole speech delivered by the Chairman of the EC, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan before announcing the provisional results on Tuesday, he stated emphatically that the NDC people came with some evidence of election malpractices in the Ashanti Region while the NPP people who have been beating the war drums about voter fraud in the Volta Region came empty handed. They went to the EC with no evidence. Finito. People are beginning to see the true nature of the NPP and all their machinations.

It is now becoming abundant clear that the NPP people want to treat the presidency as a chieftaincy stool which they want to hold on to at all cost. If people like Mac Loser do not know, some prominent people from the NPP have started expressing disquiet about what they are doing, because it puts the whole party to shame and I bet when this election is finally settled it would dent an irreparable damage to the party.

Why should the whole country be held to ransom by these few nuggerheards? I urge Ghanaians to voice their concerns because when the country explodes into violence it would be the innocent people especially women and children who would suffer. Remember what Kan Dapaah said about a month ago? He stated that if the country exploded into violence he would leave the country with his family while the country burns. We should voice out our concerns so that the NPP does not take the country for a ride.

The NPP requested that the election in Tain be held and the NDC agreed. Now that they are coming to terms that the election might not go their way they want to use the law courts to stop the will of the people. Mark my words, people like Mac Manu, Ohene Ntow and Kwabena Agyepong would not be the faces of the NPP in six months time. Mark my words. Most NPP party members are fed up with them. It¢s coming and coming very fast.
