NPP Lies

NPP LIES, LIES, AND DAMN LIES

For those NPP supporters who have been sending me hate-mail, I am not in the least perturbed! I will continue to write on issues that you wished were swept under the carpet. I want to tell you that I, Kwame Kontopiaat, do not fear “huute”. The more hate-mail you send me, the more I will also hit you where it hurts with the truth. I no go sit down and allow a few cheats, deceits and liars to continue the pillage of our resources.

Let me , Kontopiaat state categorically that ever since the NPP assumed the reins of government in January 2001, its officials have lied and lied to a point where it is no longer funny! Everybody associated with the Party, from the president, ministers, DCEs, down to constituency officials has become a pathological liar.

Let me help you to recall the lies propagated by the semi-illiterate Jake Obetsebi Lamptey about former NDC ministers stealing government vehicles; let’s also recall the lies about Rawlings running around in search of arms to overthrow the NPP government; let’s remember Osafo Maafo’s lies that the NDC left a huge “opepe” debts and the lies that the infamous CNCTI and IFC loans were legitimate and forthcoming; let’s not forget the lies about Dr. Richard Anane paying his ex-mistress $90,000 through contributions from personal associates; let’s also remember very well the lies about President Kuffuor not having had an affair with Gizelle Yadzi and also not owning “hotel de waa waa” not to mention their “NDC did nothing” lie refrain. How can we forget the lies about the sponsorship of the renovations of President Kuffuor’s private residence?

As if these were not bad enough, just last week, Nana Akuffo Addo, the man whose wife is reported to have had an incestuous sexual relationship with her uncle resulting in a child, declared at Ho, Volta Region, to my hearing that “all former NDC ministers could not account for their stewardship after they handed over power to the Kuffuor administration in 2001”. I, Kontopiaat, do not expect a lawyer to tell such blatant lies but in our country, some irresponsible and dishonest politicians whose preoccupation is to win power by any means necessary, do not care much about their professional code of ethics.

For the information of the “awam” NPP presidential candidate, I, Kontopiaat have checked with the NPP government’s chief of staff , Kwadwo Mpianin, and I can , as our mediocre journalists say report that every former NDC minister/official rendered account of his/ her stewardship by painstakingly preparing and submitting handing over notes containing details of the status of their ministries/ agencies prior to leaving office in January 2001.I, Kontopiaat, want to ask: has Nana Addo forgotten that immediately after the elections, Rawlings directed all his former officials to stay put in Ghana and cooperate with the in-coming Kuffuor administration? Has he forgotten that even former officials like Victor Selormey returned to Ghana after their trips abroad? If these individuals had failed to account for their stewardship and had something to hide, they would have returned to Ghana, Mr. Legal luminary? Can the current NPP officials do the same? Aren’t there reports that some have planned their escape in case they lose the elections?

Rather than continuing to point accusing fingers at NDC officials who left office nearly a decade ago, I, Kontopiaat, want to counsel Nana Addo to find out from his party’s former 16 presidential aspirants the source of their campaign funds because in addition to paying $25,000 in candidacy fees, each candidate was reported to have spent over 4 billion old cedis in the campaign. If he has any integrity, he should disassociate himself from his campaign spokesperson, Arthur Kennedy, for illegally acquiring a $30,000 contract with the Ministry of Health. If Nana Addo had any integrity, he would not have sought and used the so-called business contacts of such ex-convicts as the infamous Kofi Smiles to source funds for him in Nigeria. If he had any integrity and actually believed in Ghana, he would not be sending emissaries around West Africa and East Africa ) Kenya specifically) begging for campaign funds. How is he going to repay these debts? Sell more of Ghana’s assets? Kontopiaat wants answers.

If Nana Addo cares so much about accountability, he should tell us what his incompetent NPP did with VALCO. Is it sold or not?

Based on the foregoing, I, Kontopiaat, declare today that Ghana cannot afford to move forward with the same old lies, lies, and damn lies. We need change. Yeresesamu!
