NPP’s Solidarity Versus Ndc’s Fragmentation

PRESS STATEMENT FROM NPP USA*

*NPP’S SOLDARITY VERSUS NDC’S FRAGMENTATION*

As we approach the critical elections in December 2012, one major barometer Ghanaians must use in choosing their leaders at the polls is how their respective parties are run. For one cannot be expected to run an entire nation if one cannot even run one’s own party. On the one hand, the NPP has been united in solidarity and focused on discussing issues affecting Ghanaians. On the other hand, the seriously disintegrating NDC, rather than uniting its conflicting splinter groups, is desperately spreading falsehood of disunity within the solidly united NPP using discredited rags such as the Informer and the Herald tabloids.

The Informer’s assertion that a certain faction in the NPP has called for the resignation of Nana Akufo-Addo following the phantom allegations against Nana Akufo-Addo by the disparaged Kwasi Pratt is infantile, absurd, mischievous and disingenuous. Ironically, it is the NDC that has the enviable distinction of having its sitting president challenged at the primary level, a development which is not only a first in our nation’s history, but the loudest intra-party call yet for President Mills to resign. May be the Informer and the Herald can keep themselves busy discussing that.

The NPP and discerning Ghanaians are aware of the NDC’s inferior manipulative tactics to divert the focus of Ghanaians from the gross incompetence of the Mills/Mahama administration to emancipate them from abject poverty and suffering; whiles members of the NDC government are shamelessly focused on enriching themselves as observed by its founding father and mentor, President Rawlings and his wife. The false propaganda is also to conceal the fractures within the NDC due to the greed and power struggle for the ideological soul of the party between the hostile factions (FONKAR and GAME).

President and Mrs. Rawlings’ public castigation of the Mills/Mahama administration as an incompetent, corrupt “Team B” looting brigade and their demand for its immediate replacement by a competent leadership have exposed the corruption and hostility in the NDC . The disunity and hostility in the NDC were epitomized by the disgrace and disrespect of the Party‘s Founder, President Rawlings and his wife, by NDC party functionaries at the NDC congress in Sunyani during Mrs. Rawlings’ failed attempt to win the NDC presidential slot.

President and Mrs. Rawlings were disrespectfully snubbed, hooted at and booed precipitating the premature and un-ceremonial departure of Mrs. Rawlings from the congress in an angry mood. Post congress hostilities continue between President Mills’ GAME and Mrs. Rawlings’ FONKAR factions evident in the forceful prevention of Nana Konadu from speaking at her Thank You Tour rally in Cape Coast by NDC macho men. FONKAR has threatened a court action against its own party, NDC to seek redress.

Furthermore, the Wikileak reports have exposed the hypocrisy of the divisive NDC members diabolically castigating their own leadership to foreign diplomats. Baba Jamal revealed that president Mills has throat cancer and hid it from Ghanaians. Hannah Tetteh derogatorily described the NDC speaker of parliament as a weak and incompetent stooge easily manipulated by the Mills’ administration and Dr. Kwabena Adjei, the NDC national Chairman, as immature. The already incompetent and corrupt Mills/Mahama administration is so much fixated on its internal power wrangling and looting the economy that it has neglected addressing the needs of Ghanaians as stated by the founder of the NDC President Rawlings and his wife.

Conversely the NPP is solid and united without any hostile factions involved in internal power struggle for personal selfish ends as in the NDC. No NPP leadership has been publicly ridiculed by party functionaries and also cited by the wikileak report in making derogatory remarks against party functionaries and leadership. The infantile allegation against Nana Akufo-Addo by the disgraced double agent and political prostitute Kwasi Pratt and reinforced by the mediocre NDC propaganda machinery should be treated with the contempt it deserves by the NPP and the good people of Ghana.

Because it has been its focus, the NPP is well informed of the plight of Ghanaians and their total distrust and discontent with the incompetent Mills/Mahama administration. Ghanaians have concluded that the NDC lacks viable and coherent ideas to emancipate them from the social political and economic hardship they are facing. We in the NPP are conscious of the confidence Ghanaians have in our ability to bail them out in 2012 from these social, economic and political doldrums derailing their capacity to achieve their full potentials as normal citizens of the world. The attainment of these objectives demands a united front mobilizing all party potentials to confront these challenges. We are proud to state without equivocation that all members of the NPP including former President Kuffour are on board in our quest to provide competent leadership and solutions to alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians.

In addition we are poised to restore sound and pragmatic foreign policy initiatives that will be respected among the comity of nations, and will make Ghanaians proud that as a nation we have once again found our pride of place. The NPP is very much focused on discussing issues and finding appropriate solutions to the problems bedeviling Ghanaians and finds it absurd to indulge in political mediocrity as the NDC does since they have failed Ghanaians miserably. We are solidly united behind Nana Akufo-Addo to provide the requisite leadership in resolving the problems confronting Ghanaians today.
