Nana Addo Is Wasting Ghanaians' Time

INDEPENDENT PEOPLES PARTY (IPP) NANA AKUFFO-ADDO IS WASTING GHANAIANS TIME

It is sad to note that the faction of Nana Akuffo-Addo in the New Patriotic Party are still giving thoughtless and empty hope to their party supporters with their bogus election petition which is currently before the supreme court after miserably losing the 2012 Parliamentary and Presidential elections. In the 2012 general elections, 8 presidential candidates contested and 7 of them have accepted the verdict and declaration by the Electoral Commission with the exception of Hon. Akuffo Addo and his caucus within the NPP since it is important to acknowledge the fact that not everybody within the NPP supports his court decision. After being intellectually lazy as stated by Mr.Kwame Pianim, Nana Addo is now wasting Ghanaians time with their empty and weightless court case. The NDC clearly outnumbered the NPP in terms of Parliamentary Members and we all know that Parliamentary results have significant effects on the presidential election results, sohow can Nana Addo win the 2012 general elections with minority representation in Parliament? This is practically impossible from common sense point of view.

There is no sense for Nana Addo and his group within the NPP to accept the Parliamentary results and challenge the Presidential results since there is no correlation, Nana Addo is just deceiving his supporters. In the best interest of the Nation and as a good sportsmanship, IPP would like to urge the Nana Akuffo-Addo to emulate the good and matured leadership that Mr. John Alan Kyeremateng exhibited during the NPP Flagbearership race in 2007 at legon when Nana Addo was unable to attained the 50%+1 votes per the NPP Constitution to win the flagbearership position, but in the larger interest of NPP , Mr.John Alan Kyeremateng saw the wisdom of not seeking for run-off as it could have a damning consequences for the NPP in terms of financially and fatique.

Nana Akuffo-Addo elections petition case, in as much as improving the democratic credentials of Ghana, however, it is important to note that, it is negatively affecting the socio-economic wellbeing of Ghana. Now the Court case have caused decrease in productivity, created unnecessary political tension and apprehension, and makes Ghana an unfriendly destination for investors and funding for developmental projects. The live telecast of the court hearing is also in way causing financial loss to the state. What is the motivation of Nana Akuffo-Addo for the court case, is it because of his selfish personal ambition of becoming president or is it about the political power to implement his bogus unsustainable free SHS policy?, whatever the answer is, IPP think Nana Addo court case is unnecessary and just waste of time and energy. In the supreme interest of Ghana, the IPP would like to offer wise counsel to Nana Addo and the NPP to withdraw the court case, accept the election results, congratulate John Mahama and re-strategized for the 2016 general election before it is too late to lose the 2016 general election again.

The Independent Peoples Party(IPP) would like to also use this press release to encourage other opposition parties to rally behind John Mahama to rule but offer him tough and productive opposition to his Government and also importantly the opposition parties , we should work together to bring the NDC to opposition come 2016 general elections.
