And so come 30th April 2011, the dice will be cast for who wears the crown as parliamentary candidate for New Juaben South NPP (Koforidua), as will be the case across the length and breadth of Mother Ghana;
It simply is not, and cannot be a life and death issue as some people would like it to appear to be;
It is only going to be a battle of wills- the will to help garner immense support and votes for our presidential candidate-the indefatigable Nana Akufo Addo, as against some people just concerned with getting into Parliament for the sake of it, and not caring about anything else;
And so I pose the multi-million dollar question, “who wears the crown”? Permit me to dissect the candidates and see what stuff they are made of: Contestant Michael Oteng Adu steps forward
Immediate past constituency vice chair (unelected, but vice chair, somehow); No real political pedigree, excepting a one-time parliamentary candidacy bid (which was not to be); stepped down at the 11th hour in another’s favour (that was the game plan); knows in his heart of hearts that he cannot win by fair or scare; knows zilch about politicking except manufacturing innuendo, dubious manipulation, communist inferior tactics, mudslinging at another contender to score cheap political points(if at all it will wash); his boss being the dubious character of a morally bankrupt Constituency Chair, Mr Agyena Sarpong; who has no sense of shame; a man who has made money his god and his stomach his shame; you are good to abandon this slippery road with him because he would prove your political and life’s nemesis; you chose money over the person of Nana Addo recently; let all those who have the NPP at heart beware of such a character. As the maxim goes, ’buyers beware’ of who you are voting for!!!!PERIOD!
Contestant Dr Assibey-Yeboah
A novice in politics; thinks and believes academic degrees are anything to use to bully others; he has been going about insulting the intelligence of delegates, elders and a respectable chief within the New Juaben Traditional Area. Nobody takes it away from you that you educated to the heavens, but realize also that the world changers and great men of history and now happened to be not so schooled-the Bill Gates, Abramovich’s, Bransons,etc. What airs then? What effrontery then? Education without application to help others is as useless as cow dung! And he had the guts to lambast sitting NPP MPs that they know next to thing when it comes to analysis of the nation’s budgets; and that he avails the minority in parliament with the information they need to debate in parliament, albeit because of his remit as a Bank of Ghana Economist cum Lecturer at GIMPA. Welcome aboard flight ‘KOFETOWN POLITICS’. A certain parliamentary candidate went about slaughtering goats and sheep for delegates in the 2008 parliamentary primaries, and he polled only ZERO vote(s). Can you explain how that could happen, amidst the pomp that went with his campaign, just as pertains to your current campaign? Let history teach you a lesson now!
You are good to have your political teeth cut through participation in the grassroot level elections (assembly elections) before thinking about the parliamentary elections. I am proffering free advice to you, young man. It is yours for the taking.
WHEN REALITY DAWNS ON YOU ON THE 30TH OF APRIL, WILL YOU WEEP OR CRY MAA MAA? Contestant Hon. Beatrice Bernice Boateng (BB) Immediate past Assembly Woman; immediate past PM of New Juaben Municipal Assembly, incumbent MP; Deputy Ranking Member on Education; rich political and professional experience; Gender Activist; Accomplished Teacher and Educationist; former Headmistress of Winneba Secondary School; Regional Manager of Presby Schools (Greater Accra Region); immediate past National Treasurer of NALAG; Named by Nobel Peace (Nobel Women’s Initiative 2009) amongst 190 Women Redefining Democracy in the World.
BB has endeared herself to the people of New Juaben South/Koforidua because of her openness, selflessness and dutifulness in ensuring New Juaben regains its former glory. She has done unbelievably well as an opposition MP in promoting education, infrastructural development, and women empowerment, among others. Madam the whole of New Juaben support you, and are rooting for you. You always identify with the needs of your constituents; you have demystified the high office of an MP with your humility, bravery, poise and positive disposition. You have upped the dignity stakes of the MP’s office, to the extent your detractors are struggling to bring your name into opprobrium.
People have dug pits for you to fall in, on many occasions, but the Lord delivers you from them all.
May the Lord continue to shepherd you to the place of your destiny. New Juaben Yaa Asantewaa, Margaret Thatcher, this is another opportunity to serve New Juaben. Do not be moved by the evil machinations of your detractors, but know that at the time appointed, they shall fall into the sea of disgrace and failure and ignominy.
VOTE FOR MADAM B. B. BOATENG AS THE NPP PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE OF CHOICE FOR NEW JUABEN SOUTH CONSTITUENCY!!!
