Columnist: Tamakloe, Kojo

Oh No Nana Akufo Addo

You are on the wrong foot Kojo Tamakloe

The much awaited announcement came and it surprised nobody. Nana will not throw in the towel and groom some one else for the future . Once upon a time Ft Lt Rawlings was asked to hand over and he asked “ to whom”, he replied? People were up in arms . “What arrogance ,they said, does he think he is the only one endowed to lead”? One of those who did and claim this in their resume as an act of heroism , was the same Nana Akufo-Addo. So now without Nana Akufo-Addo Ghana cannot see the “ promised land” . He is the savior , the anointed one who saw the face of “God” not from the Mountain top but from the hotel top

Nana has fired the first salvo of a campaign for 2016 and enumerated the countries problems, corruption, dum sor dumsor, water, falling cedi, unemployment among others all due to mismanagement and lack of leadership . This is how he put it “The current economic difficulties call for efficient and honest management of public resources and projects. Much of the difficulties facing the country today can be traced to widespread corruption and the apparent inability on the part of the current leadership to fight corruption.

The depressing reality is that corruption is costing the nation jobs, as government chooses to pay more money for less. Corruption is denying our children money to fund their education, the school feeding program is starved of cash, ask yourself why? Contractors are not being paid. Ask yourself why? Our development partners are refusing to release funds to support our budget, ask yourself why? Salaries are in arrears, ask yourself why? Unlike what we are witnessing today, what Ghana needs is a government that makes the issue of giving value for money the underlining principle for managing public funds. We need that to develop greater confidence in the economy.” Nana have you said anything new that Ghanaians did not experience in your government spanning 2001-2008?

Corruption. Can Nana seriously talk about corruption? His resume is filled with corruption . There are so many questions than answers. Let him correctly and in a chronological order starting with his birth and then tell us of the schools he went to and his accomplishments . Let him for all time produce the law documents he obtained and tell the nation he obtained everything legitimately .Is it not corruption? When you favor some people over others, is that not corruption? What of “yen Akanfo” . To start his campaign , did he go to Hohoe or any Ga or fante or Northern Chief to brief him but to the Asantehene? Is that not corruption?

What did he do with all the corruption around him when he was A G .? Did they not even corrupt the Chief Justice. Was she the next in line and the most capable ? What of the massive “ crony capitalism “ that was practiced ?Has Nana forgotten that the norm was Schools under trees? Nana was it not corruption when you allowed the murderers of the Yana & 40 elders to escape ?. How was Mobilla murdered and the murderers could not be brought to justice ?

.Nana was it not corruption when you wriggled out of the vehicular manslaughter charge against you and then when your daughter was involved in a vehicle accident under the influence but escaped Nana was it not corruption when the Euro Bond of $750m went to waste ? What of the un finished toilets and paying the workers from plastic bags leaving no audit trail?

Nana should then go for drug tests to be witnessed by independent people . The drug issue is serious and let no one tell me Flt Lt Rawlings was on drugs. We have new standards, so all aspiring Heads must go for drug tests

Nana can you tell Ghanaians how you spent the HIPC money of $4.1bn and still managed to leave a debt after 8 years equal to 15% of GDP. This was a chance to balance the budget and wean the country off donor support. Nana can you tell the country the state of both TOR and Ghana Commercial bank by 2008. Nana what happened to Ghana Airways and its assets ? Have you accounted for them? Nana how come the E&O group own the shares in Tullow? Was that a spotters fee? If it was the what is different from what Woyome talks about, sourcing for finance?

Nana , Nkrumaists list pages and pages of industries Nkrumah put on stream before your father and his accomplices removed him . That was a period of 9 years as compared to yours of 8 years . Whereas he left Kanda Estates you left Sodom& Gomorrah . He built an Oil refinery , you could not even manage it, he left Ghana Airways and you killed it , just like your father killed 400+ others , there were no schools under trees , you had schools under trees, he was sewing school uniforms in Ghana, you were importing them from China .That to me Is not efficient management of resources

Nana , we are not interested in some one who will enumerate the problems facing the country. Dum as some of us are to you we can see and feel them . We NEED some one with a record of achievements, who will SOLVE our problems . We can all complain about them . Ghanaians enjoy it and it is our pastime. Ask my friend Kutu Acheampong . He said “ if it does not rain, Ghanaians say Kutu. Am I god”?

Talking of problems Nana , one of the biggest FAILURE in Africa and Ghana is the private sector and your half baked supporters cry of “privatize’ . Why do they not start enterprises? In the 8 years you were there your leader travelled the whole world looking for non existent investors. Nana , support Pres Mahama’s cry for “ Buy Ghana” as that is what will make the industries at home grow . Nana , look at the Africa market and boost trade now at 10% . You cannot compete with companies as Exxon Mobil, Kentuky fried Chicken or Toyota . The small man/woman cannot compete with them . All grew their home markets before going multi national

“Jabie” Forward ever , backward never
