Open letter Jean Mensa: Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Ghana

Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Jean Mensah Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Jean Mensah

Dear Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana,

As the nation prepares for the upcoming election, I urge you to remain committed to transparency, fairness, and integrity. Ensure that the commission maintains its independence and does not show bias toward any political party.

The Electoral Commission’s primary goal should be to conduct free and fair elections, where every citizen’s voice is heard. This can be achieved by:

1. Ensuring Voter Registration Accuracy: Verify the eligibility of voters and maintain a clean and credible voter’s register.

2. Preventing Electoral Violence: collaborate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful election process

3. Maintaining Impartiality: Resist pressure from the ruling party or any other external influences

4. Promoting Public Confidence: Foster an environment of trust through open communication and regular updates on the electoral process.

In the words of the commission’s chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, “Every Vote Counts”. I implore you to uphold this mantra and ensure that the commission’s actions reflect its commitment to democratic values.

In Article 46 of the 1992 Constitution, the Electoral Commission should remain independent and not be subject to external control. I therefore urge you to uphold this principle and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
Ghanaians count on the Electoral Commission to deliver a peaceful and credible election. I urge you to remain vigilant and committed to the principles of democracy.

Sincerely

E-Signed
