Sir, I am writing to re-act to one Joseph Osei Adu Gyamfi’s article in the Graphic, Wednesday May 20th 2009, page 9 in which he shamefully stated that Nkrumah was NOT the founder of Ghana.
Mr.Osei Adu in the said article wants to tell all Ghanaians that it is extremely hurtful for the vice President John Mahama to re-iterate President Mills’ call to celebrate Dr. Nkrumah’s birth day as Founders Day.
To promote democracy and freedom of speech, the editor of the Daily Graphic provided Joseph Osei Adu a space to expose his ignorance for well meaning Ghanaians to see that he has no knowledge of Ghana’s history.
Mr. Osei Adu falsely stated that the country’s independence story revolves around the relentless efforts of Dr. J.B. Dnaquah, Dr. Ako Adjei, William Ofori Atta, Justice Akuffo Addo, Obetsetsebi Lamptey and Dr. Nkrumah. Fair enough, but Mr. Osei Adu failed to tell Ghanaians in his article the reason why the Late Dr. Nkrumah stole the show by breaking away from the remaining five traitors to form the CPP in 1949 at Saltpong and led Ghana into independence on March, 1957. The remaining five “patriots” rather made relentless efforts to destroy and assassinate Dr. Nkrumah. It was because Dr. Nkrumah wanted Self Government. Now, and the five traitors led by Dr. J.B. Danquah who was the leader of the Bomb throwers also wanted self Government and independence in the shortest possible time, while dragging their feet until general elections were held in 1951, 1954, and 1956 which the colonial government had wanted Dr. J.B. Danquah’s so-called National Liberation Movement (NLM) or “mate-meho” to have won, but surprisingly, the remaining five traitors led by Dr. J.B. Danquah who later recruited Dr. K. A. Busia to join them lost the three general elections to the well organized CPP led by Dr. Nkrumah and they rightly formed a government on the ticket of the Convention People Party (CPP).
History had it that Dr. Nkrumah an Nzema by tribe from the Western Region won his parliamentary seat in Accra and later the Presidency and our colonial masters were compelled to release him from prison against their will to form a government on the ticket of the CPP. Those were the days when Patriotism and National interest were at work, and NOT today’s money cum tribal politics that has been introduced in this country by the so – called Angels of Democracy who were rightly voted out of power by well meaning Ghanaians in the 2008 elections. Dr. Nkrumah first formed the Committee on Youth Organisation (C.Y.O.) which he intended to be the Youth section of the national movement.
On 12th June 1949, the C.Y.O was transformed into a full political Party before a crowd of over 60,000 people. Disgruntled at the success of the CPP in the three general elections, and disappointed at not receiving positions in the new CPP government, the five opponents of Dr. Nkrumah led by Dr. J.B. Danquah went into action and tried to wreck Ghana’s independence movement by organizing a series of bomb outrages, in Accra, Kumasi and Kyebi which killed hundreds of innocent men, women and children in their political fight with the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Dr. J.B. Danquah followed it with a bloody ethnic cleansing in Kumasi and Kyebi where non-Ashantis were hacked to death with machetes, bombed or even shot to death on sight. Dr. Busia led the Kumasi operation while Dr. Danquah led the other operation at Kyebi in the Eastern Region, so if I were the President of Ghana, Dr. J.B. Danquah and the five others including Dr. Busia would have been exposed for what they were in Ghana’s history books and would never have been honoured in ANYWAY because they were the very people who crippled Ghana finally on 24th February, 1966 through a bloody coup where thousands of innocent men, women and children were shot dead and their bodies buried in mass graves and the others thrown in to the sea. It is as matter on record that Dr. Busia led an opposition delegation to London and appealed to the British government NOT to grant independence to Ghana. When independence was granted to the Gold Coast after the 1956 general elections which the CPP led by Dr. Nkrumah again swept clean, Dr. J.B. Danquah, Busia and the rest resulted to organizing a series of daily bomb outrages which compelled the late Dr. Nkrumah to send the Preventive Detention Act bill to parliament and it was passed and finally implemented to prevent the nation from being mangled at birth because there was a coup attempt by Major Ahwaitey and R.R. Amponsah in1958, just one year after Ghana’s independence. Dr. J.B. Danquah was paid by the American C.I.A and cannot and must never be referred to as a co-founder of Ghana or any of the others including Dr. Busia – you either take it or leave it, but this is the bitter truth.
After the cowardly bloody coup led by Gen. Kotoka and Brigadier Afrifa in 1966, three top members of the CPP were to tortured to death in protective Custody namely Maclean Kontche, Magnus George and M.O. Kwatia respectively at the Nsawam prisons. Therefore President Mills and his vice President John Mahama are 100% right in calling for the celebration of the late Dr. Nkrumah’s birth day and he is the TRUE FOUNDER OF OUR NATION GHANA and he does NOT share that credit with any other Ghanaian Past or Present in this country because the nation cannot afford to honour national traitors, tribal bigots and past murderous politicians who regarded their opponents who were in government as nothing but ANIMALS that must be wiped out from the earth. I would have gone on and on but for lack of space, I drop my bic here, so come again, Joseph Osei Adu Gyamfi for I have educated you free of charge through this masterpiece. I am done.
