Re: "I will fulfil all my promises"- says Nana

According to General News of Monday, 24 November 2008 on Ghanaweb, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has pledged to fulfil all his campaign promises if elected president.

He is reported to have said that "I have too much respect for the people of Ghana to make promises to them, that I cannot fulfil," he said. As the NPP flag bearer he was accompanied by Mr Mahamudu Bawumia, Mr Jake O. Lamptey, Ms Gloria Akufo, Mr Yaw Osarfo Marfo, Alan Keyeremanten and Alhaji Malik Yakubu, MP for Yendi.

Most astonishing of all he is also reported to have “recounted the sad events that led to the death of the overlord of Dagbon, Yakubu Adani II, and hoped that all outstanding matters related to the Dagbon Chieftaincy crises would soon be resolved to bring lasting peace to Dagbon and the country as a whole.” We would like to state categorically that Nana Akufo-Addo can NEVER EVER fulfil all his promises. Indigenous capitalism which was one of his promises has collapsed even before the election and there is global talk of rethinking capitalism itself.

We also note that he was Ghana’s Chief Law Officer when Yakubu Adani II was unlawfully killed. He failed Ghana then. The Government of Ghana of which he was a key member failed to respect the life of the overlord of Dagbon and all those who were killed with him.

Accordingly, we want to state categorically that Nana Akuffo-Addo is lying when he says he respects us or that he will fulfil all his promises. Finally we do not think that a President on possible future illicit drugs will have the mental capacity to fulfil any promises if elected.
