Re: NADMO Wants To Rig Elections

By Nana Akua Tweneboah-Koduah

Sometimes it becomes extremely difficult to understand what the NPP operatives take Ghanaians for. With defeat starring them in the face, the NPP people led by their flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo, are going about saying anything that comes from their stomach in order to just gain political traction.

Due to the way the NPP people have ran their political campaign largely through sheer propaganda, they have realized that the die is cast; that President Mahama and the NDC are looking too good to coast to victory on Friday December 7, 2012, which is why they look so desperate and helpless.

Otherwise, why would the NPP Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong, go about accusing the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) of plotting to rig the December polls by packing ballot papers and boxes to the Northern Region? What was this guy thinking?

Even what Agyapong said does not make sense when you read it. It smacks of somebody who forgot to take his drugs before going to that rally in Tamale. Please read what he said, “Around 9 pm in Accra, the workers of NADMO have been packing ballot boxes, ballot papers and motor bikes and have been transporting them to the Northern Region with the aim of preventing the Electoral Commission (EC) from conveying the ballot boxes to the polling stations by putting them on the motor bikes.”

Agyapong whose loose talk and wild allegations does not even excite the NPP base went on to add that, “We are not going to allow any individual to pick the ballot boxes to the polling station.”

You cannot make head or tail of what Agyapong was even talking about. He stated that NADMO is packing ballot boxes, ballot papers and motor bikes with the aim of preventing the EC from conveying the ballot boxes to the polling stations. Is this a sensible statement to make?

Is Agyapong not aware that the EC had stated that it will cancel any polling results that have more voters than the number of eligible voters? This year’s election is weighing heavily against the NPP as the tricks they used in the 2004 and 2008 elections will no longer work.

And because their backs are glued to the wall, Kennedy Agyapong is leading the charge to deceive voters that the NDC has something up its sleeves to spring a surprise. The NPP people have not done any serious analysis on why they lost the 2008 elections and have been resorting to the same old mistakes that sent them packing to the bush in 2008. They did not learn anything from their defeat.

The famous American scientist Albert Einstein is famously quoted as saying that, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. The NPP has made pure propaganda as its bedrock therefore even if it’s not working for them; they still continue to push it. That is why they are where they are today.

Akufo-Addo did nothing credible in his constituency when he was the Member of Parliament for 12 solid years. This man who today is looking to become the President of the Republic of Ghana did not cut a single sod to construct even a KVIP toilet let alone borehole water or a school building in his constituency. The records are there for everybody to go and review. His constituency people are peeved but are afraid to talk because of Akufo-Addo’s penchant of turning his thugs on people who say anything bad about him.

Yet, Akufo-Addo who has no shame and is full of himself is junketing across the country promising everything that he sets his eyes on. And we have his supporters who out of stomach tendencies are following him to spew garbage around thinking that Ghanaians will be fooled into buying it.

The NADMO cannot rig elections in the country. Unless the NPP used the NADMO in 2004 and 2008 to rig the elections, I do not see why Agyapong should cry wolf when it’s the EC which is printing and packing it electoral boxes to wherever they want them to be.

Kennedy Agyapong, who has nothing good to offer the country except to sit on radio and television stations to talk nonsense that his own children will not even take to the bank, better find something good to do with his tattered time image and time. Ghanaians no longer buy in that kind of crap talk from Agyapong.

The NDC will win next Friday. They will win handsomely and will not use any foul or dubious means to do it. And the country will not burn, nor will Ghanaians slaughter each other just for the sake of the likes of Agyapong and Akufo-Addo. We have grown used to their political tricks and I must say with all certainty that: NPP IT WON’T WORK THIS TIME AROUND.
