Before you get to the middle of this article, if you know Sir John or has his number, please remind him that he is still under a six-month bond to be of good behavior or he goes to jail.
The run for the Secretary position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has gone into full gear and the people have already positioned themselves with messages to the electorate. I want to draw our attention to two of the people who are contesting, the newspapers they spoke to, and what their message was. As for Captain Effah Darteh, I guess he is still waiting on the Lord.
Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie, also known as “Sir John” spoke to the Daily Guide News paper, and his message was that the NPP won the 2012 elections and so he is the right person to again win the elections in 2016 for them.
Kwabena Agyapong also spoke to the Daily Graphic and his message was that the NPP lost the 2012 elections and so he is the right person to win the elections in 2016 for them. Can you see the big difference between the two candidates?
Sir John spoke to the Daily Guide which was the paper that declared Nana Akufo-Addo as the President of Ghana even before the elections in 2012. Kwabena Agyapong spoke to the Daily Graphic which is a state newspaper which I would say report the news “as it is.” Now if Daily Guide and Daily Graphic are propagating NPP candidates for positions, which would you believe? Sir John, Jake, and Nana Akufo-Addo can never leave Daily Guide as they campaign for their various positions in the NPP. During elections 2012, when they went to Daily Guide and Oman FM to make their noise, they thought Ghanaians were listening to them. They made those noises into open vacuum.
Now let’s read to what the two candidates have to say. I will quote them because I don’t want you to think that I am making their statements up:
Sir John said “Let those who say we did not win and who now want us to come to power go and tell the constituents and the polling stations that we did not win. I am saying that we won with all of them and the evidence in court demonstrated clearly that we won the elections.” He continued to say “I speak for all the party members, especially the underdogs in our party; those who are NOT in the INTELLECTUAL GROUP.” Refer to Ghanaweb.com on November 8, 2013. (I’m not a failure – Sir John).
Kwabena Agyapong also said “My bid to become the Chief Scribe of the New Patriotic Party is to redeem the party from its recent defeats at the polls.” Do you see another big difference between the two candidates?
Sir John speaks to the members in the party who are NOT in the INTELLECTUAL GROUP and Kwabena Agyapong speaks to those in the intellectual group. So do you now see why I want you to reject the message of Sir John but vote for him? The vote for Sir John automatically makes National Democratic Congress (NDC) the winner in all elections. I don’t care to say “Vote” for Sir John because I know I am talking to the NOT intellectual group in the NPP and so even if their vote will secure NDC a victory, they will still go ahead and vote for him anyway.
Let’s try and understand Sir John. Do we see why Sir John keeps saying that the NPP won the elections in 2012? Do we see why even though the NPP lost the elections in both 2008 and 2012, they still went on a “thank you” tours? Expect the NPP to go on another “thank you” tour in 2016, because they will not accept the election results. Do we see why the current leadership of the NPP blames everybody, including the Asantehene and now Nana Oye Lithur, for Nana Akufo-Addo not being the President of Ghana? Do we see why the current leadership of the NPP uses every excuse under the sun to explain to their NOT “intellectual group” why Nana Akufo-Addo is not the President of Ghana? Do you see…….?
Sir John told Daily Guide that let those who are campaigning for positions in the NPP go to the constituents and tell them that NPP did not win in 2012. But did the NPP win in 2012? What political party is the President of Ghana from? I don’t know but I know he is not from the NPP. I also don’t know the name of the President of Ghana but I know he is not called Nana Akufo-Addo. So what danger is Sir John trying to bring to Ghanaians? The fact that Sir John won the Secretary position in the NPP means he got the majority votes. If he got the majority votes, then I can safely say that majority of the members of the NPP are NOT in the intellectual group.
The purpose of this article is to appeal to the intellectual group in the NPP to reject the message of Sir John and at the same time, I am appealing to the NOT intellectual group to vote for Sir John. Sir John told Daily Guide that “at the end of the day, there can only be one champion and that is Sir John”. I agree. If Sir John wins, we will know the type and kind of people in the NPP. I am not saying it. It was Sir John who said it to Daily Guide, one of the not intellectual newspapers in the world.
