PRESS RELEASE:

Response To Dr. Adom Winful’s Reckless Statement: Archaic Negotiator

We are very much abhorred with the insensitive approach of Ghana Medical Association in demanding for their earthly insatiable paper called Money or better still Salary. In as much as we agree to the fact that satisfactory work should accompany a satisfactory salary, We also think there should be a religious approach in issues of salary agitation with respect to human life.
The most unguarded and reckless statement in the heat of the unfortunate GMA standoff is that of the associations best man Dr. Emmanuel Adom Winful claim on Adom fm ( Monday, October 17) that “ people die even when doctors are on duty and so there is no big deal someone dying when doctors are on strike”. Seriously this man deserves an on spot bullet with that callous statement. Is he the best man GMA can have within their ranks?. The power and well-to-do negotiating skills are inborn but not just the attainment of a degree. We humbly submit Dr. Winful does not have what it takes to negotiate but rather exhibiting archaic skills. We are completely scandalized his pronouncement rightly falls within a certain philosophy of a political party “ALL-DIE-BE-DIE”. Wondering if Dr. Winful is a Ghanaian, We are not denouncing his nationality but doubt his adherence to the culture, norms, virtues and characteristics of a true Ghanaian.
Dr. Winful should straightly understand he is not a semi God, the mere fact he can work with the strings and the scissors does not make him super human.
Lets Ghana resolve to die because our doctors are refusing to work, and so what? Is death their motivation?. There are two distinct types of motivating a worker within the professional class; Intrinsic and Extrinsic forms of motivation. Dr. Winful should get himself schooled on the various types of motivating a professional worker. We also recommend to him the Abraham Marslow’s Theory of Needs. Life is not all about Money !!!!!! Money!!!!!! Money!!!!!!. Herein lies another difference between an advanced country and a country of ours. These are professionals who have had experience outside Ghana before and they are expected to know better.

The Intrinsic motivation accorded the Medical fraternity by the people of Ghana is enough to motivate them in the discharge of their duties. Ghanaians have elevated and adored their profession so much that we sometimes “WORSHIP” them.
We strongly call on Dr. Winful to apologize to Ghanaians for the embarrassment and insults to the people of Ghana. For sanity and progress, we suggest Dr. Winful takes a back seat for an intuitive negotiator to lead the GMA front for everlasting solution. This will propel peace and growth.
Thank You.
