In the run-up to the 2016 general elections, the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, mounted campaign platforms of the NPP and claimed that former President Mahama was visible on billboards, but what was indeed seen by Ghanaians, including herself, was a corruption of his regime everywhere in Ghana in 2016.

The Second Lady also joined the ‘incompetence’ chorus of the NPP for the person of Mahama and said that her husband, Dr. Bawumia, was the ‘Economic Strategist’ that Ghana needed in 2016. Ghana is indeed in a deeper economic mess under the chairmanship of Dr. Bawumia! What has happened?

The majority of Ghanaians listened to Samira Bawumia and the NPP as a whole and voted for Akufo-Addo for the second time in 2020. It is an undeniable fact that this Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led government is the most nepotistic and corrupt one in our 4th Republican dispensation.

For instance, not only did Akufo-Addo put many of his familial relations in critical positions at the Finance Ministry in his government, Works and Housing, Transportation, etc., but his regime has also recorded over 100 corruption scandals and is still counting. The former OSP, Martin Amidu, did not mince words on Nana Akufo-Addo and named him the ‘Mother Serpent of Corruption’ in Ghana.

The Vice President, Dr. Bawumia, has been mating with his boss, Akufo-Addo, for almost 8 years to fight corruption head-on. This corruption animal has rather overpowered both Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia and defeated them because they lack both the political will and commitment to confront this social cancer.

Apart from the raging corruption under this Akufo-Addo-led regime, the handling of Ghana’s economy by the ‘Economic Strategist’, Dr. Bawumia, together with his so-called Solid Team is nothing to write home about.

The inflation rate is now in double digits, the exchange rate is galloping and now at almost GHS16 going for $1, mounting national debt at GHS 658,6 billion, and it is defaulting external debt repayment, painful domestic debt exchange program (DDEP), the collapse of domestic banks, loss of jobs, as well as the generally high cost of living among Ghanaians.

These worrying economic indicators show that Dr. Bawumia has become highly incompetent, and every Ghanaian is still suffering. The silence of the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, during these troubling times under Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia’s government is deafening. The question I want to put to Samira
Bawumia, is she still seeing corruption and mismanagement everywhere now under Akufo-Addo and Bawumia?

The fact is that this current Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led regime is highly appalling, corrupt, and incompetent. This current regime has plunged the country into a highly distressed state with polluted forest reserves and water bodies.

Whist Samira Bawumia claimed to have seen corruption everywhere under former President Mahama in 2016, she has now become bound to unprecedented corruption scandals, including Dapaah’s cash hoarding saga, etc. Second Lady cannot therefore be trusted like her man when it comes to the running of the country.

This election year 2024 is a prime time for Ghanaians to overwhelmingly reject the NPP and Dr. Bawumia on December 7, 2024.
