We have taken note of the pronouncement by the Minister of Finance during the mid-year policy review of the 2024 budget, claiming that the water supply in Keta has improved. We wish to categorically deny this assertion and highlight the ongoing challenges faced by many communities in our region.
Contrary to the Minister's statement, several areas, including Hagodzi, Sonugb, Anyako, and Mamime, continue to struggle with access to potable water. The residents of these communities face daily hardships in securing clean and reliable water sources, severely impacting their quality of life and health.
Additionally, access to electricity remains a significant issue in these areas. The lack of a reliable electricity supply hinders economic activities, education, and overall development.
We urge the relevant authorities to address these pressing issues with urgency. It is crucial that concrete steps are taken to improve water supply and electricity access in Hagodzi, Anyako, Mamime, and other affected areas to ensure the well-being and development of our communities.
We call on the government to engage with local leaders and residents to better understand and address the challenges we face. It is only through collaborative efforts that we can achieve meaningful and lasting improvements in our essential services.
