The Catalyst Newspaper – A Nepotistic Mouthpiece of Alan Kyeremanten

By: Fadi Samih Dabbousi

So the Catalyst Newspaper has flagrantly taken sides in the hottest inter-NPP contest ever and referred to Nana Akufo-Addo’s supporters as “HOUNDS”! So, by their own measure, that is okay but any wayward word that may emanate out of defence from Nana’s camp is attacked with all sorts of ineloquent condemnation.

The sad state of affairs when everyone is being called upon to silence the guns and maintain a level of decorum has just been made more rancorous with vituperations unbefitting journalism, especially from a Newspaper such as The Catalyst.

Although it is not a known Newspaper, it is driving in the wrong direction at attaining fame. The problem is that when one is in the media landscape for the wrong reasons, they only create disfavour and unless the Catalyst is not as disease-stricken as it sounds in its write-ups, I will be surprised if it goes far at all.
To finger Nana Akufo-Addo’s camp in the despicable acts of charlatanism at the NPP Head Quarters, recently, is just as despicable. Those acts of brutality that were purported to be orchestrated by some new executives to create disaffection in order to drive forward a certain unbecoming agenda seemingly to create schisms within our fraternity were even blamed on NDC thugs by no other than the current chairman, Paul Afoko.
For some unrelenting mission, by all means targeting the integrity of Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign strategy, impious acts of hooliganism are hatched up, planned, orchestrated and implemented by some inimitably crude personalities with multiple faces. It seems that The Catalyst Newspaper has caught the contagious elements of mischief and has joined the garbage trail of foul play.
To go back seven years in time to exhume dead events, when dastardly acts of nepotism characterised the 2007 congress, in an attempt to cast shadows of doubt on a clean flagbearership election can least be described as “PREMEDITATED MALICE”.
Even then, whatever acts of violence that might have taken place were, individually, sporadic happening at the point of insulting Nana Akufo-Addo, something his people feel very bitter about. It is a natural reaction pertinent to human beings but had Alan and his supposed advisers been decorous enough to warn their followers to desist from such infuriating behaviour the flogging would not have gone on. Afterall, naughty children need to be taught a lesson in good manners.
On another biased point that was made by this irresponsible newspaper in which it affirmed what I term “the legendary terrorism of Arthur Kennedy against Nana Akufo-Addo”, the baselessness in the former’s assertion of violence emanating from the latter’s camp is adulterous indeed. In fact, this FBI-chased criminal, Arthur kennedy, in his own book “Chasing The Elephant Into The Bush” stated, on page 86, “Nana Akufo-Addo kept a punishing schedule. It was not unusual to have him finish a day at one a.m. and start the next day at six a.m. with meetings. From sun-up to sun-down, there was an endless stream of people who needed to see the candidate and he saw them all”.
This is in direct contradiction with the propaganda-ridden perception that he was inaccessible". In numerous other places, he described Nana as a “peace loving person, humble and kind”, so whence cometh all these allegations? Does it mean that the very people castigating this honourable man, Nana, were sycophants who milked him until their top got blown off giving them the impetus to go on a rampage which has now been stepped up? Much more is the pity!
I am befuddled about the nature of these educated twerps who see everything bad in anything good and everything good in anything bad.
On page 52 of the same book authored by Arthur Kennedy, he described the access to Nana Akufo-Addo as “unusual”. Then he made a statement that exonerates Nana of many wrongdoings falsely attributed to him, “Nana Akufo-Addo had never been asked to authorize many of the decisions he was reported to have authorized”. So loose behaviour emanating from anyone who may be his supporter must never and, I emphasise must never, be attributed to him because it would be just as blasphemous a lie as attributing impishness to angels.
Again, he went on to state on page 53, “Once, I saw him give one of the key people in the campaign a well-deserved tongue-lashing that would have made any domineering President or leader envious. One of Nana Akufo-Addo’s strengths is that he does not hold grudges. No matter how passionately you argued with him over a point, he never held it against you…………..Another very admirable trait Nana Akufo-Addo has is that he is very considerate”. Once more I ask, wherefrom is this newspaper’s (The catalyst) allegation when Arthur Kennedy, now their accomplice, had already affirmed and confirmed these humble traits of Nana Akufo-Addo?
The hazards of ineptitude are prompting most of these characters to seek shelter behind the heat of their tongues oblivious of the fact that they are only creating acrimony against themselves contrary to their self-serving aims.
