The Elephants’ Conference

By Isaac Karikari (bkkarikari@yahoo.com)

The NPP lost a limb
And now appears to be in a limbo.
This faction; that faction
Each takes away a fraction
Sadly, to the party’s destruction
If it persists, in no time they will lose,
Their lot and their portion.
Rid your house of every mouse.
Smoke the moles out of the holes.

Off to the conference they march,
Pundits predicting an awesome match.

When Alan feted MPs
It was a nice gesture,
But some worried about his posture
Had he started his campaign
With some champagne?

On Nana’s part
It was nothing but mockery
When we heard of the thuggery
His boys muscling and mauling others.

From this conference,
Will they come out, gaping holes in their cloth,
Or all their differences in a patch?
Will this conference begin the stride,
That will restore the elephants’ pride?

From the NDC’s congress-
Its Before and its After,
There are lessons to glean
But on everything do not lean.
Be discreet as you take a cue.
I offer you a clue:
If you are in distress,
Will you grab a mattress?
And if you are seeking a sanctuary,
Will you try out a mortuary?
It’s however true that there are places,
Where money does not reign,
He who is sovereign,
Is the one with powder.
He is the one with power.

Off to the conference they march
On this match right before March
All eyes are fixed.
Will they come out strong,
And prove some wrong?
Or …………………………….?
