Mr Kofi Wayo is such a wonderful character to know. He truly is! However, I feel sorry for him. He seems to be out of place. We Ghanaians are used to politicians who lie and deceive us. Mr Kofi Wayo isn't like that! He speaks truth to power. Very unusual for a politician! Hence, my admiration and profound respect for him. I took a liking to him the very moment he started critiquing some of our politicians. I saw in him a man of truth! I have been observing him ever since. Ghana needs a person like Kofi Wayo. No doubt! Such a character should be respected and cherished for all time. He’s a true patriot! That said, I was delighted, when he had a go at the presidency. His chances of winning were quite slim, of course! But then, most of us knew that Ghanaians weren't ready for him. In fact, Ghanaians knew very little of him, let alone make him their president. The average Ghanaian knew Mr Kofi Wayo as the man who wouldn't shut up! To some, who was the man who arrived from America to seek the presidency. So, most naturally, he was deemed an opportunist by all and sundry.
Perhaps, he was and still is! However, it was his sincerity to serve his country, which should've mattered. After all, politics means service. All true politicians will agree! So, what exactly went wrong? Why didn't Ghanaians give him their vote? During the 2008 presidential campaign, Mr Kofi Wayo articulated his message eloquently. He spoke, for instance, of the hurt of the masses. He touched on national development. He proposed various ways and means, which could catapult Ghana into great heights if implemented. In short, he spoke of change. Change for the better! Better ways of doing things, to be more specific. Ghana needs help! This isn't a secret. However, she isn't going to get it from our current crop of politicians. Absolutely not! This must be clearly understood! They simply don't have what it takes. Everybody knows it! The politicians within the NPP and the NDC party are insensitive to the plight of the masses. The record has shown! They don't see that Ghanaians are suffering. No! It's as if they are detached from reality. Delusional! These two political parties had eight years each to rule. And, where are the results? What does Ghana have to show for? Where are the greats deeds meant for remembrance?
By now, Ghana should've had several state-of-the-art hospitals to boast. A social security service for the unemployed and our low income families should've been in order. And address system should've been in the works. Employment for the masses should've been many and counting. Upgrading her decrepit education system and building affordable houses should've been realized, even if not to the fullest. The country’s natural assets should've been used to back its weak currency. A great idea worth considering, by the way! In short, Ghanaians should've been living better than those in Europe, America and elsewhere. They deserve it! This hasn't been the case, sadly! The NPP and the NDC party have ruled Ghana to the ground. Unfortunately enough, they continue to damn the masses. They continue to misspend the country’s fortune to the detriment of the people. These two useless political parties talk about progress. However, the living conditions of the masses continue to retrogress. Amazing, isn’t it? There are people who can move Ghana forward! I truly believe it, but don't expect to find them within the NPP or the NDC party. You would be gravely disappointed!
Mr Kofi Wayo is amongst those who can help build this country! This man has lived outside Ghana long enough to know what Ghana needs. But, would Ghanaians vote for him? Interesting question! Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom is a brilliant politician who believes in service. At the start of the on-going economic recession, he was the only Ghanaian politician whom I heard propose a bail-out for Ghana. An excellent proposal, without a doubt! This is the kind of politician that he is. He puts country first! Those who know him well would tell you that he will make a remarkable president. I am sure that he would! During the last presidential election, the CPP, his party, didn't come out strong. The party got 1.34% of the votes. I was shocked, to say the least. According to me, Dr Paa kwesi Nduom should've come out the victor. Followed by Mr Kofi Wayo, of course! These two gentlemen were the best candidates in the race by far. Ghana's electorate felt differently! So, instead of change, they voted the NDC party back in power. Right there and then, my long-held belief was reaffirmed. The majority of Ghanaians are political illiterates! They don't vote on issues. They don’t even know what’s at stake! But, would they ever know? Not in their state of ignorance, for sure!
