The NDC’s General Mosquito really makes the NPP uncomfortable

Folks, the NDC’s General Secretary (Johnson Asiedu Nketiah) is a male mosquito who bites deep. I don’t know whether he belongs to the anopheles group that survives by sucking blood from its victims; but I know that in political considerations, he is a mosquito to fear.

And he has grown thick wings to fly around the landscape, hitting hard at the NDC’s opponents and draining them of life support. Some may dismiss him as a nuisance and an opportunist, rising above his initial status as a common teacher to take advantage of the political situation to become a millionaire (After all, he has companies, one of which supplied cement blocks to the company building the Bui hydro-electricity dam).
Nicknamed “General Mosquito,” Asiedu Nketiah has been a thorn in the flesh of the NPP all these years and even had the unfortunate experience of being knocked off his feet when he participated in a street demonstration by the NDC at the time that Kufuor was in office.
Given his physical stature—described by the Daily Guide newspaper as “the skeletal Asiedu Nketiah”—this NDC General Secretary is “too much” for the political opponents of the NDC. He takes them on at will and deflates them whenever they call for it.
In the news today, he is reported to have told the NPP people what they will hate to know: that while they are busily organizing and inaugurating branches in far-away environments, he and his NDC machinery are establishing branches in nearby countries where Ghanaians live. (See http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/We-ve-been-busy-opening-branches-in-Togo-378958)
The truth is that it is far easier and less expensive for Ghanaians in these neighbouring countries to dash down to polling stations in the country to vote than it will be for those in European countries that the NPP is concentrating on.
I am very much alive to all that the NPP and its Akufo-Addo are doing in European countries and the United States, organizing branches and making fat noise about electoral possibilities. But they are far behind the times when it comes to reality.
Once the ROPAAL isn’t functional, getting votes from these diasporans to win the general elections won’t be possible. I have met some in New York boasting of returning home on Election Day to cast votes for Akufo-Addo. Who in his true sense will spend so much just for that purpose? Phew!!
In that sense, then, turning attention to those in walking distance is the most productive option. Is General Mosquito telling the NPP what it hates to know?
I shall return…
