The undiscovered part of a revolution

“Feminism is not about making women stronger. Women are already strong. It is about changing the way the world perceives that strength” – G.D Anderson

The feminism concept is one perceived by many as a radical attempt by women to place themselves equal to their male counterparts. A brief research into this concept through the lenses of Wikipedia found feminism to be a range of political movements, ideologies and social movements that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal and social rights for women.

Sadly, I think the approach adopted by many a believer in the feminism ideology has little or no impact on the expected results. The struggle of organised feminism started as far back as 1848. We are talking of some 169 years ago! Now, that’s Something. Those who run around flying high the banners of feminism would bear with me that where the feminist struggle has reached thus far is nothing near where they would have wished for. The obstinate truth is what feminist associations have either lost view of or probably wantonly closed their eyes to. If feminists believe that trying to be a man I’d a waste of woman, then I am very happy to announce to them that they have been wasting their muliebrity all the while. Women have the natural flare to nurture. Women have the natural ability to connect with their children better. We do not need any scientific research to tell us this.

What is my point in all this? Simple! The problem women seek to overcome with the concept of feminism is 'men' . Except of course, animals form part of those obstacles which feminists seek to remove from their paths, men are the major blockades to the successes of women in the quest for equal opportunities in life. What prevents women from doing this when they practically own their sons?

If you are a feminist who raises your son to believe that he is better than his sister(s), what shows he wouldn’t underrate all other women including yourself? If you call yourself a feminist yet you keep your sons on the soccer pitch while you lock your daughters in the kitchen to prepare meals for the family, what shows your sons wouldn’t see every other woman as a material for the kitchen? If you want to straighten a tree, you stake it in its infancy; not when it is fully grown. You cannot start telling a grown man about how you think he should see women and expect him to inhale it like a snuff. It is always difficult if not impossible to make a monkey understand that honey is sweeter than banana.

In conclusion, I believe feminists should give themselves some number of years within which they expect to see a perfect or near perfect change. They should then work on educating women on how to nurture their children from childhood to accept that both women and men should be given equal opportunities in life.

I am not against feminism but I am worried about how women understand feminism and the procedure adopted to achieve the concept's goals.

“Fighting for woman’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. This has to stop!” – Emma Watson.
