Words created the universe and everything within, empires have been built and destroyed by words; words have won elections and again have eliminated great leaders. This isn’t the first and perhaps wouldn’t be last but for us, we have learned how and where and whom to speak them to. The great lesson wouldn’t be never to speak again but always speaking appropriately.
At every time in this life, everybody is driven by something. These drivers mostly are the mistakes and the rights we make as a result of our choices. Daily we make choices and the hard part is we must learn to live with them. An enemy of many people, maybe all of us is the guilt of past failures. Our bright future mostly becomes obscured and controlled by our past. One cannot undo his past mistake but can live a future with little to no mistakes by taken his lessons right.
Our past is past. Many folks spend their entire lives running from regrets and hiding their shame because of their mistakes. Honorable, you may not be able to undo the past but you can refuse to be guilt-driven and be manipulated by such memories. The lessons going forward are: someone is always watching us in our various pursuits and conservations and God always does that. Again what we say and meant normally is different from the interpretations others choose to give. You control what you speak and not how others choose to interpret it, the best thing is to make sure you are truthful to God and yourself. And once you are clear in your mind, move on.
Moreover, there is that likelihood that you would be driven by resentment and anger at this moment. It appears true friends and confidants have turned you down and may even proceed to ignore and reject you a while. It is part of life; perhaps God needs your attention for a while. Your dismissal may offer you that opportunity to reflect on other things in life. Resentment always hurts you more than it does to the person you resent. While your offender has probably forgotten the offense and gone on with life, you may continue to brood over your pain, perpetuating the past. You may not have had control over how others hurt you but you decide how you respond to the pain. When I’m hurt I just smile, learn from it, ignore the rest and move on by saying - he is just a human, a mere fallible being.
Furthermore, the fear of what the future holds for you may resonate. How your family would react, your political future and career. Fear has a special way of robbing you off your potentials; it masters, limits and imprisons your destiny. You must move against it with the weapons of faith and love. Notwithstanding, remember this quote ‘never fear to try again and never try in fear.’
I know this mistake is regretted, but it would help you to turn a corner, pick up again and move on. God's purpose is not limited by our past. Only a hardened heart limits it. He turned a murderer named Moses into a leader, coward and betrayal called peter to be the rock of the church and a coward named Gideon into a courageous hero, and He is not done with you yet, Honorable. God specializes in giving people a fresh start. There is no better conclusion in this letter than the fact that after one making a terrible mistake in life, he/she can continue to live and perhaps live it so well that many would forget that he/she ever did err.
Yours faithfully,
