Press Release UFP View On The National Economic Forum And The Expression Of Our Condolence To The Demise Of Dr. P.V.Obeng
The United Front Party wishes to congratulate the NDC Government and the participants of the just ended national economic forum at Senchi. Watching the programme from afar it was very productive and useful forum although the beauty of it have been lost due to the demise of a leading organizer and chairman of the forum in the person of P.V. Obeng. The forum was a very good and laudable initiative which may strengthened the fundamentals of Ghana’s democratic culture. The absence of the United Front Party and the largest opposition party, New Patriotic Party at the forum created a serious vacuum and inefficiencies to the forum. The Mahama led administration failed to show respect towards the New Patriotic Party by delivering the letter due them at a very short notice as well as by not extending an invitation to the United Front Party to participate in the programme. The NDC Government must learn to show respect towards the smallest political parties in the involvement of the management of the affairs of the Country. The assertion which was made by the Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Hon. Felix Kwakye that the Government invited all the registered political parties to the National Economic Forum is incorrect, UFP want to put on record that we were not invited to such important national exercise and we takes it as a gross disrespect by the NDC Government and that if there were anybody at the forum in the name of UFP, that person might be an imposter. The Information and Media Relations Ministry should be proactive and do the right thing by extending an invitation earlier enough to the NPP, the biggest opposition party as well as all the other registered political parties specifically the United Front Party to such a forum whenever it is organized again so that we can help to proffer practical solutions to the socio-economic challenges facing the economy of Ghana. We would like to urge the NDC Government to fully implement the consensus which was reached at the forum to the total transformation of the economy. It should not be just a mere political gimmick to deceive the masses or used it to create an impression that the UFP and the NPP does not care about the current poor state of the economy. Lastly, the United Front Party would like use this medium to express our profound condolence to the bereaved family of P. V. Obeng, the NDC family and the people of Ghana for the demise of Dr. P. V. Obeng. He was a hardworking and noble man. Political leaders and anchors will surely miss your leadership style. May God grants him a perfect rest in the spirit world.
