Just as we entrust our nation to citizens who have acquired skills and are capable of managing the affairs of the country for better response to our anticipations, and also made the age of the voter to be 18 and above for better evaluation and comportment in electioneering, likewise the Leaders of our nation must be decided by individuals who can evaluate the economy and also evaluate candidates to choose who can actually do the job and thus someone with at least BECE certificate or basic education.
We should't think of disenfranchizing some ghanaians from voting as individual who have not attained the age of 18 who are also citizens of the nation are also disallowed from voting. Then we would say that non qualifiers to work in the public sector who are citizens of Ghana are sidelined on the basis of their education.
This I think is also going to make it easy for the election process to be carried out more efficiently especially in e-voting as the people involve in voting have at least basic education and will also help to have smaller voter population. This'll also create eagerness in many citizens to have basic education in order to access the benefits of voting.
Infact I deem it very important since most Ghanaians due to their triviality in education vote for people on the basis of how their nature is, how nice their emblems look, their closeness in ethnicity, how sweet their voice are, and other materialistic and relational intuitions which in a calculated mean turn majority of our votes into what doesn't benefit us all. Majority doesn't know that the source of their well being is dependant on governmenance but think it is solely their responsibility.
We must think positive that someone who is grown and has not had his/her basic education would find it tough to manipulate with the formulas and figures of the economy no matter how wise he/she may be.
I'm therefore taking this opportunity to call on our electoral commission to hold this note seriously for deliberations, debate and conclusion. I'm also calling on the constitutional review committee to look into this. May the almighty bless our homeland Ghana
