The writer’s heart is gladdened by the news coming from the Volta region as per audiovisual social media updates.
A few recently sighted YouTube videos do indicate that some people in the Volta region have emerged from the seemingly innate tribalistic-cum-political cocoon in which they have been embedded for donkey years.
The natives of the Volta Region, for reasons only best known to them and made worse by the NDC's machinations and manipulations, have always been voting for the NDC. Could it not be because the founder of the NDC, the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, was their kin?
Could it not be partly due to the unforgettably painful remembrance of the banter the late Victor Owusu had with the late Gbedema on the floor of parliament many decades ago?
The selfish politicians among them have always been whipping up their bitter sentiments, lying about the NPP and the Akans, especially the Ashantis, to get them persuaded to vote for the NDC all the time.
I will not go into the details of it, as I published a feature article on Thursday, December 10, 2015, on both Modernghana and GhanaWeb titled “Open Letter to My Compatriots, the Voltarians," admonishing them to let go of their hatred toward the NPP and the Ashantis for their own good.
Now that they have seen the light and come to the realisation that the NDC has taken them for fools for far too long and will hence give the NPP their due, they are more than welcome. I am happy for them.
They have now seen the worth of NPP. They will no longer allow the NDC’s selfish politicians among them to continue to underestimate their intelligence.
They are welcome as brothers and sisters to join hands on deck to campaign to elect Dr. Bawumia, the president of Ghana, to continue to develop Ghana for the betterment of all.
How I hope to see the prodigal son, Mr. Koku Anyidoho, mount the NPP platform to campaign for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP to win the election in 2024 and do more for Ghana.
Don’t allow John Dramani Mahama, the little brain, and the NDC to continue to take you for fools. You ain’t (aren’t)!
