Some are born great and others achieve greatness and it is no surprise at all that, certain individuals make their way to the top spot and all they do is amass wealth at the expense of the populace. Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is the finest and the best President we've ever seen in the history of our dear motherland and the run of the mill will even agree with me. Look at the Tema motorway, Akosombo dam,Tema harbour and most of the good things that we can boast of were all built under the leadership of the man with a great foresight. Kwame Atoapem Nkrumah, we miss you and it is no surprise that we are always looking for him with lanterns in broad day light.
This great man sent fear down the spines of the imperialists and he was the person who even spearheaded the formation of the OAU now the AU. He was right to have said that,"the independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it is linked with the total liberation of the African continent and this is is really true as the numerous wars in the sub-region affects other neighbours and hey! he said this a long time ago. The current politicians who boast of having high academic laurels should be ashamed of themselves considering the numerous achievements that this great son of Africa had within a short term in office. Rawlings was President for 20 years or so and all he can be remembered for is the fact that he governed the worst and the most corrupt government in the history of the nation and this is a shame. He had all the intellectuals like Spio Garbrah, Kofi Awonoh to mention but a few and these people proved to the whole world that they were academic illiterates or a disgrace to education.
One of the most respected people in the world today by name Nelson Mandela will agree with me that most of the leaders in Africa are just being used as scape goats by the IMF and the imperialists and the main reason why this man succeeded is because he said no to the imperialists just like the first President of Ghana. Haile Selassie admired him and Olympio admired and feared him just because of his wisdom. It is shameful to know that, The Asantehene(King Solomon) has proved that he is a better manager than most of the leaders we've had after Nkrumah and Osagyefo would have rewarded him for a good work done.Kwame came from a society not better than any of the leaders we have today but his mind lifted him out of his surroundings.
No country can act on its own in a neo-colonialist environment, not Nigeria, the most populous or South Africa, the most technologically advanced as Nkrumah said and this is no lie at all. Preident Kuffour is now pushed by the devilish IMF to privatise most of the nation's businesses and he would have loved to say no, but the fact is that he is scared of the consequences. Why can't we ignore this beast and act on our own? Neo-colonialism is tantamount to death and no wonder a lot of Ghanaians have been entangled in the life cycle of poverty whiles those selfish politicians live in a clover. The judgement day will soon arrive and they will all answer for making a lot of people look like slaves on their own land.
No doctor or intellectual ever thought of going abroad during the reign of the Osagyefo but what do we see today? An exodus of intellectuals and I really don't blame them at all. As Malcolm X said,"how can you talk of equal rights when you have no peace?" and thus the government should either do something about this or shut up as we need to refrain from illusions and insist on work and not on words. If Parliamentarians who do no work whatsoever could be given a loan of $20,000 then why can't Doctors and the other proffessionals get it as well? Mr Kuffour, I hope you remember what Nkrumah did to Krobo Edusei and other members of his cabinet who were amassing wealth at the expense of the poor Ghanaian. Are Ghanaian doctors not good enough to have cured the speaker of Parlaiment instead of wasting an alleged $67000 dollars on his medical bills?
There are so many things to say and answer and I hope you are considering the fact that, what goes around will always come around. Judge the former ministers of state and judge Rawlings even if you want but know that you will also be judged by the upright judge. Kwame Nkrumah, I cry as I mention your name due to the fact that our country is being sold to the imperialists. Today capital flight is a phenomenon that is really draining our economy yet the clever economists now look like fools and seem not to see and hear what goes on in certain areas of investment. A lot of mining firms evade tax by changing hands and yet we always sit down and say yes sir to the evil one by name IMF.
We are not saying that the government can keep all their promises within this short time but they should at least do something good and stop succumbing to the IMF as the country is in so much debt as a result of the mistakes of politicians. If Selormey and Kwame Peprah were sent to jail for negligence then whoever approved the $20000 loan for parliamentarians should also join them there as "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" as Martin Luther King Jnr said. "Let no man pull you so low as to hate him" as Booker T Washington said and thus our leaders should stop the IMF from pulling them so low. Panafricanism is the only way forward and thus our leaders shouldn't only preach it but practice it. "At my age, I have learnt no better lesson than this which I am imparting to you this day to make man what he ought to be- a success in life" as Mosiah Garvey said.
Rawlings, gave his hench men so much room to operate alongside the IMF and no wonder they caused his downfall and thus we should all advise ourselves and live for the people as we promised them. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, WEB Dubois, George Padmore, Haile Selassie, Sekou Toure, Jomo Kenyata, Sundiata, Sumanguru, Steve Biko, Julius Nyerere, Rev Dr, Leon Sullivan, Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Malcolm X, Booker T Washington, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Mr Nelson Mandela, please show our current leaders the way and hope you will all be remembered in their minds. You were all great people because you always said no to imperialism.
