Prior to the 2000 elections, Ghana was littered with dead bodies and not a single clue has been found to the killings despite attractive monetary incentives offered by the Police Administration and the National Security Council to the public to help apprehend the perpetrators of the crimes neither have any of the deceased been identified.
Chief Superintendent David Asante-Apeatu, ex-Director of CID, who led the team of investigators from the Forensic Unit, said that processing by the team has revealed that the bodies were dumped at scenes from an unknown destination. The NPP in opposition during their 2000 campaign promise to stop the killings when given the mandate to rule Ghana and for the fear of been killed, majority of Ghanaians especially women voted for them and they won the 2000 elections. As promised by the NPP, within a micro seconds the dead bodies disappeared from our streets as soon as they won. Similarly, Hon. Samuel Atta Akyea the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa South was caught on secret tape during the 2008 elections arranging to export dead bodies to the Volta Region with the intention of providing evidence to impugn the integrity of the good people of the Volta Region that their party polling Agents were killed during the election justto nullify the election results. Can anyone imagine what would have happened to this our peaceful country, against the backdrop of the heightened tensions at the time? I cannot imagine any Government sweeping this case under any carpet, knowing some innocent and peace-loving Ghanaians would have lost their lives as a result of Samuel Atta Akyea’s plot. The ball is now in John Mahama’s court to either go after Hon. Samuel Atta Akyea who in January 2009 admitted the voice on the tape as his. I thought the peace-loving NDC government would find it necessary to arraign him before court to explain things to the whole world. If for nothing at all, such acts must never be encouraged in our body politic, and least of all, the NDC was bound to be the most affected had this ‘Dishonourable’ crook succeeded in his heinous plot. Per Governments “I don’t care” posture, those same Spirits that operated undercover as serial killers leading to the NDC’s defeat in 2000 Election have emerged and this time around as Arsonist. But do we expect something different anna ? No is my answer because these evil things happen to Ghana when a certain political party is in Opposition and I now understand why my good friend Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo was attacked when he opined on his facebook timeline that ” All of these fires remind me of Dr Kwame Nkrumah's pain, don’t joke when they are around u.”
President Mahama, What a depressing way to start your tenure in the office? The professional competences of the Police Administration in handling the Market fires which have hit the Accra metropolis is questioned now because they failed to act when an NPP Stalwart on the platform of Let My Vote Count at Dome called on their leaders to supply and allow them to bomb schools, churches and even burn markets so that the world will know they are serious and angry. Our Security could not cause any arrest or sanction any effective surveillance on them.
Seriously, these market fires are becoming too rampant.....there is something fishy. Six (6) market fires within two months in just Greater Accra Region? Some people prematurely attributed it to Electrical faults but why does the fault occur only at Night and not Afternoon?
If it is an arsonist that is causing all these fire, may God expose them and their pay masters for the entire nation to know, however My heart goes out to those who have lost properties in these recent market fires. Whilst in opposition during Jerry’s tenure was Serial killing of women. Whilst in opposition during Prof. Mills’ tenure was burning of State buildings and offices And now that they are in opposition again comes the Market Fires. What have we done wrong to have these people as around as a nation? May God bless our Homeland Ghana.
