Why?

By Kojo Albion

Why is Ghana (Africa) so rich and yet so poor? There are many causes but the leading ones are corruption, mismanagement, exploitation and our MINDSET. (Let us move away from all the analyses and work on solutions.)

The Mindset has to change- What is "aban" (Government) to MOST politicians and most citizens? An entity to be exploited to the pain of her citizens? Thus: "Aban wokwu no na w)nnsoa no." That was before 1957 but NOT any more.

How many politicians will say what Nelson Mandela (below) and mean it?

“During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.” (Nelson Mandela)

Marian W. Edelman: "A lot of people are waiting for MLK or Mahatma Gandhi (Kwame Nkrumah) to come back- but they are gone. We are it. It is up to us. It is up to you."

Let us all dedicate ourselves to the cause: FOR THE SAKE OF MOTHER GHANA. If it is to be done, it is up to us all. Yes, one person can make a difference but together with a singleness of purpose, Ghana will succeed.

Let us do something good for Ghana today and tomorrow.
