Why this demand of “talk about the economy, talk about the economy” to Dr Bawumia?

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their leader John Dramani Mahama including some leaders of the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), especially Franklin Cudjoe of Imani Africa, are constantly demanding that Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia talks about the economy.

Daily in their campaign rounds, they parrot the demand, “talk about the economy, talk about the economy”.

What economy do they want Dr Bawumia to talk about? Do they expect him to keep explaining why, how, and when the Ghana economy came into its current crisis? Do they want him to constantly dwell on exonerating himself from blame by always explaining to Ghanaians and pleading for their forgiveness because he has failed them woefully?

Come on guys! Yes, the economy of Ghana is facing some difficult challenges, nevertheless, they are not unique to Ghana but a worldwide phenomenon.

Dr Bawumia and his boss President Nana Akufo-Addo had been doing, and continue to do, their best, to make Ghana great by implementing sound and well-grounded economic policies. These are obvious and indisputable to any honest Ghanaian except their diehard political rivals and bigots.

They only came to encounter these current difficult economic challenges about two to three years ago when the deadly Covid-19 disease that quickly became a pandemic reared its ugly head.

Everybody who is abreast with world news, knows the devasting impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the people and the economies of the world.

Covid-19 led not only to the shutting down of companies for nearly two years but also, the death/loss of many hundreds of thousands of people, loss of jobs, mandatory restrictions of movements of people but to stay indoors. This is how bad the disease impacted the lives of people and the economy.

Just as the world was gradually emerging from the shadows of Covid-19, the next straw, or the last straw that breaks the camel’s back happened, the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

Are the above two catastrophes not external shocks that many countries including Ghana had, or have, no control over but to manage with? Are they not destructive to economies?

Despite all these, Ghana like other countries, is trying her hardest to manage the situation by putting in solutions which although may take time for their benefits to be realised.

Look at the policies and programmes Dr Bawumia intend to implement if voted the president-elect of Ghana on 7 December 2024. Are they not possible solutions to get Ghana out of her current economic doldrums?

What is wrong about him talking about developing Ghana through digitalization and digitization? Why should he abandon that factor which is the most effective weapon of economic development in the fourth industrial revolution of the world?

Why should he dwell licking his wounds instead of finding a remedy?

Dr Bawumia is right to talk more about the plans to move Ghana forward than to dwell on explaining himself to Ghanaians why, when, and how the Ghanaian economy came into its current difficult state.

Why is John Dramani Mahama and NDC and their friends not talking about how they can better the economy of Ghana if voted into power but rather criticising and demanding Dr Bawumia to talk about the economy?

What are their solutions to the economic problem faced by Ghana? Are they the insults, provision of “nkoko nketete, ebuo nketenkete, sika nketenkete” and the 24/7 running of beer bars and discotheques, their explanation for their proposed 24-Hour economy?

Fellow Ghanaians, I call on you to vote for Dr Bawumia and NPP as they are better managers of the economy than John Dramani Mahama and the NDC.

If Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war had happened during the tenure of Mahama and NDC in government, just imagine how huge the Ghanaian economy would have fallen, as chronically incompetent and clueless as they are.

Sorry, I must go for time is not on my side now. However, I shall be back so my fans and Ghanaians, watch out for more info from the proud and fearless son of Kumawu/Asiampa.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) are strongly advised to go all out to win election 2024 by tripling their campaign. Do door to door and house to house campaign. Go to the cocoa farms and the villages without allowing NDC to tell sweet lies to the people to woo their hearts and steal their votes.
