'Love your enemies. ... If someone strikes you on the right cheek, give them the other.' Are the words and actions of Kufuor and his NPP cohorts consistent with this teaching? We are told to expect a God-fearing government, but what is the Jesus agenda?
The church taught me that the Sermon on the Mount is the basic statement of Jesus' philosophy, in Matthew 5:1-28 and Luke 6:17-46 for those who want to read along.
Jesus said, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth." We haven't seen much meekness in NPP government lately. The question is, "Will the Earth be worth inheriting after the minning companies and timber contractors trash it?" We have to work harder to protect our inheritance.
"Blessed are those who show mercy." We've not seen much mercy either; only selective application of zero tolerance for corruption, which, has landed previous ministers in jail, while criminals like Bamba, Apraku & Obetsebi-Lamptey are free.
"Blessed are the peacemakers." It's not clear how the killing of Ya-Na and Mobilla figures into this. Invading the Ya-Na?s palace killed some 40 Ghanaians. There's not much peace there. All those who conspired, condoned, plotted and executed the Ya-Na should know only repentance would allow them to see the kingdom of heaven.
"Do not store up for yourself treasures on Earth." This means Kufuor and his ministers should stop amassing illegal wealth in order to fund vital programs.

"Thou shalt not commit adultery." Thomas Broni and 90% of our ministers have broken this commandment. Who is Miss Gizelle Yajzi? Christians should focus on staying faithful, not worrying about ?Apuskeleke?.
?Thou shalt no bear false witness against thy neigbour?Kufuor and his cohorts should think about this commandment any time they open their mouth to accuse the previous government.
"Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to stand in the churches and streets so they can be seen by others. ... Whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray in secret." President Kufuor should not be praying any more for the TV cameras.
"Don't worry about the speck in my eye until you take the log from your own." NPP government has a lot of logs to take out of our eyes before worrying about others.
"Do to others as you would have them do to you." The golden rule is a universal religious value. The president has disrespected others on car loan for MPs, packing of Supreme Court, using govt funds to renovate his house, and many other agreements.
"Beware of false prophets, men who come to you dressed as sheep while underneath they are savage wolves. You will recognize them by the fruits they bear ... a good tree always yields good fruit and a bad tree bad fruit." We have yet to see many good fruits from President Kufuor and his followers. They need to implement a real Jesus agenda, lest they be hypocrites, false prophets and wolves in sheep's clothing.
(Matthew 28:20) ?Nations and Governments will come and go but the church is a living witnesses to Christ?s promise that He would be with us until the end time.?
