Achimota Golfers Steal Show

TWO GOLFERS of Achimota Golf Club, last Saturday, December 3, invaded the Tema Country Golf Club, to win honours in the Hennessey Invitational Golf Championship, reports Isaac Franklin.

Messrs Mathias Dorfe, and Dr. Harold Agbenu, exhibited excellent performances at the tourney, to emerge winner and runner-up, respectively, in the Men?s event.

Mathias beat Harold on count-back, after they had both tied at 43 points. Martin Poku also, beat Frank Etwi-Barimah, on count-back, after 42-point scores, to grab the third position, while Thomas Okwodju placed fifth, with 41 points.

Esther Bhavnani won the Ladies? event, with 41 points, and was trailed by the defending champion, Esther Antwi, with 40 points, while ?lady scientific?, Florence Etwi-Barimah, perched at the third spot, with 36 points.

Lady Scientific thumped Mary Asafu-Adjaye on count-back, and Esi Cobbina bagged 37 points to clinch the fifth position.

The One-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition, attracted over 80 participants, and was sponsored by Hennessy Cognac Limited.

Mr. Eddy Duplan, the local representative of Hennessy Gognac, pledged the company?s unflinching support for the game, in the ensuing years.
