Accra, April 6, GNA-The 72nd Annual Ghana Amateur Open Golf Championship tees off at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday, April 10 and ends on Monday, April 12.
Professor Michael Ben-George, President of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA) who announced this in Accra on Tuesday said the three-day 54-Hole Scratch event sponsored by Silver Star Auto Company is open to amateur golfers throughout the country.
He said the event will be played under the rules of the Royal Ancient Golf Club, the World's Golf governing body and the local rules of the Celebrity Golf Club and is expected to attract more than 200 participants.
An array of golfers who had declared their determination of annexing the trophy for the first time in the history of the competition, include Eric Henaku and John Cobbina both of Tema Golf Club, John Sam, Yaw Assah-Sam, Samuel Sowah, Bashiru Sakibu and Kwame Saarah-Mensah all of Achimota Golf Club.
Mr Joe Aggrey, Deputy Minister for Education, Youth and Sports is the special guest of honour.
