Ghana Seniors Golf at Winneba

Accra, Aug. 12, GNA - This year's Ghana Seniors Amateur Open Golf Championship will tee off at the Windy Bay Golf Course at Winneba in the Central Region on Saturday, August 23 and on Sunday, August 24. Mr John S. Wattenburg, Secretary of the Ghana Golf Association who announced this in Accra on Tuesday, said the two-day Match-Play Scratch event, which is open to senior golfers from the ages of 55 years and above is being sponsored by Ghana Oil Company Limited.

He said the competition, which is in its 20th edition, would be played under the rules of the Royal Ancient Golf Club of Scotland and the local rules of the Windy Bay Golf Club.

Mr Wattenburg said about 100 golfers are expected to participate in the competition with a Handicap competition which had been reserved for the 50 to 55 years' group.

Mike Ezan, President of the Achimota Golf Club would lead his team which would include Dan Dennis, Mike Aggrey, Wisdom Asempa, Mike Ben-George and Paul List.

Five prizes would be awarded in the Men's event, while three prizes would be at stake in the Ladies encounter. Mr Dua Agyemang, Managing Director of Goil Ghana Limited will be the special guest of honour. 12 August 08
