Ghana Seniors Golf in Kumasi Aug.23

Accra, Aug. 13, GNA--The 15th Annual Ghana Amateur Seniors Open Golf Championship tees off at the Kumasi Golf Course on Saturday, August 23 and ends on Sunday, August 24.

Professor Michael Ben-George, President of the Ghana Golf Association who announced this in Accra on Wednesday, said the two-day 36-Hole Scratch event open to amamteur golfers aged 55 years and above, is being sponsored by Ghana Oil Company (GOIL).

He said more than 100 golfers are expected to participate in the competition which shall be played in accordance with the rules of the Royal Golf Club of Scotland, the World's golf governing body and the local rules of the Kumasi Golf Club.

The Achimota Golf Club team to be led by Michael Ezan, immediate Past President of the Ghana Golf Association included John Sam, Samuel Adetola, the Captain, Dan Dennis, Wisdom Asempa, Emmanuel Add-Mensah and Nana Wereko Ampem the second, one- time President of the club.

Tema would also be represented by seasoned players such as Felix Owusu-Adjapong, John Cobbinah, and Alex Fiagomey.

Meanwhile, preparations are feverishly going on at the Tema Country Golf Club to host this year's Tema Open.

In this vein, Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, Chief Executive Officer of the Tema Golf club has appealed for sponsorship to enable the club to host the event.
