Golf had great future in Ghana – MTN CEO

MTN CEO Serame Taukobong believes the sport of Golf has a great future in Ghana with the interest people have shown since he had been in the country.
The South Africa Golf enthusiast who has participated in the tournaments in various parts of Ghana said he was impressed with the lovely display of golfers and appreciates the golf courses which have been maintained.
He said the CEO Invitational golf tournament is very important to MTN because it is through such interactions that they receive feedback which can then apply to serve customers and clients better.
“indeed, as a result of such feedback we are happy to say we recently introduced the Global MPLS service to support enterprises that require global connectivity” he said.
Serame Taukobong noted that in their bid to connect more with valued stakeholders across the country, the MTN invitational golf is taking a new turn this year as they plan to share the experience with other stakeholders across selected regions in Ghana.
There were shocks and surprises at the Sakumono based Celebrity Golf Club on Saturday 28 June during the MTN CEO Invitational Tournament as players who were not expected to win grabbed the top positions to prove that the sport has a great future in Ghana.
The event which attracted over 100 golfers saw Maureen Akuaku picking up two prizes in the special draw and winning the ladies group B with a gross of 102 in handicap 36 and a net score of 66 points. She was followed by Ester Antwi and Joyce Aronsen.
Mary Kronborg won the ladies group A with a gross score of 90 over handicap 13 with a net score of 77. She was followed by Pamela Yeboah who played so well.
The longest drive prize went to Anthony Appiah in the men’s category and Madam Clara Price in the women’s category.
The thrilling men’s group A was won by Ligbidi Kwame with a gross of 78 over handicap 05 with a net score of 73 points. Ernest Kumi took the runners up position with Kusi Boateng winning the third position, Eric Jonson was fourth and Kojo Choi was fifth.
The men’s group B was won by Gorkeh Sekyim. He was followed by K. Matlatesa, Philippe Ayivor and fourth placed Anthony Appiah.
The next event is expected to be held in Tarkwa in the Western Region.
