Accra, April 15, GNA - About 100 senior golfers are expected to parade at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra to vie for the Quartey Memorial Open Championship slated for Sunday, April 26. Mr Kwabena Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club told GNA Sports in Accra on Wednesday, that the one-day event was in memory of P. D. Quartey, a senior member of the Golf Club and his son, Sydney, the immediate past president of the Club who died two years ago. He said the event, which was open to senior golfers aged 55 years and above, would be sponsored by the family of the late Quartey's with support from the Club.
Mr Oteng-Aboagye said some of the golfers expected to participate in the event include Mike Ezan, President of the Achimota Golf Club , Mike Ben-George, Paul List, Matthias Dorfe, Charles Tabi, Nick Smallman and Yaw Assah-Sam.
The Ladies category would also witness a stiff opposition from Mona Myles-Lamptey, Clara Price, Victoria Adjei, Victoria Apomasu, Mary Asafo-Adjaye and Ama Morgan. The event would be played in accordance with the rules of the World's Golf governing body and the local rules of the Club.
