Samuel Gyekye shines at MTN Invitational Golf in Tema

Tafo Golf Club’s Samuel Gyekye amassed a net score of 68 points to emerge winner of the Men’s Group A MTN Invitational Golf Tournament held on Friday.

The 2019 annual competition held at the Tema Country Golf Club saw Gyekye excel over 100 golfers.

He was followed closely by Felix Kwame Akafo of the Achimota Golf Club who scored 69 points, whilst James K. Kally also of Achimota Golf Club and Godwin Asem of Tema Country Golf Club picked the third and fourth place with 69 and 70 points respectively.

In the Men’s Group B category, Nash Antwi from the Achimota Golf Club topped with a net score of 72 points whilst Tema Country Golf Club’s duo, Nana Dr. Ani Agyei and Francis Sonne placed second and third with a net score of 73 points.

Sensational golfer, Floria Hurtubise from the Bogoso Golf Club won the ladies’ group A with a net score of 71 points, with Nana B. Tackie occupying the second position with a score of 77 points.

In the Ladies’ Group B, Gladys Awuni from the Tema Country Golf Club and Pamela Atila of Tafo emerged victorious in the category with a net score of 71 and 76 points respectively.

Awarding the closest to the pin golfer, Jerry Tetteh picked the Men’s category whilst Floria Hurtubise won in the Ladies’ division. Isaac Amoako Mensah and Niine Sarpong both of Achimota Golf Club also took prizes for the longest drive.

For the Seniors category, Kwabena Boakye and Dr. Paul Owusu Baah both of Tema Country Club picked the first and second position accordingly.

Dr. Ishmael Yamson, the Board Chairman of MTN in his speech said, the MTN Invitational Golf Tournament had proven to be a worthy opportunity for networking and providing leads for business expansion.
