Tema, Oct. 29, GNA - The First W.C. Tandoh Memorial Open Golf Championship would tee off at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday, November 3.
Mr Akwasi Opoku, Competition Secretary of the Club who announced this at Tema on Monday, said the One-day 18-Hole Medal Play competition is open to senior golfers aged between the ages of 55 years and above and is being sponsored by State Insurance Company of Ghana Limited. He said the competition, which would be played to honour the late Mr W.C. Tandoh, Proprietor of the Celebrity Golf and Holiday Resort Limited, would be played according to the rules of the World's Golf governing body and the local rules of the Club.
Mr Opoku said some of the golfers who would take part in the event include John Nyen, John Sam, Mike Ezan, Mike Aggrey, Dan Dennis, Set Squire, Charles Tabi, Lee Mensah and Nick Smallman. Veteran Mona Captan, champion Florence Etwi-Barimah, Esi Cobbina, Mary Asafu-Adjaye and Esther Antwi are all expected to be seen inn action in the Ladies category.
Six prizes would be awarded in the Men's category while five would be given in the Ladies event. The late Tandoh died in the year 2001.
