The Youth Missionary Society (Ys) is the youth group of the Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society (WH&OMS) of the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E) Zion Church.
The group is predominantly for young ladies between the ages of 13-21, with gentlemen within the same age group as honorary members.
Amongst the objectives of this group is to reach out to the community, especially those in need, and nurture an attitude of service amongst the youth.
As part of its activities this year, the Aggrey Memorial Society’s Youth Missionaries, organised a loving visit to the Children’s Block of the Korle Bu Teaching hospital on the 27th February 2016. February being the month of love was an ideal time to shower more love on brothers and sisters in the hospital.
The visit was also to offer words of encouragement and gifts to motivate young ones through this trialing phase of their lives. The group presented a package to the entire block, which was well received by the nurse on duty Auntie Diana. She then led the group to tour the wards.
During the tour process, the missionaries interacted with patients, prayed for them, encouraged parents whose wards were in the hospital and distributed their love gifts.
In her closing remarks, Auntie Diana thanked the group for the gifts, as well as commended the eagerness of the missionaries to understand the cases of those they visited, which she stated was a rare occurrence when it came to visitors.
