A sod-cutting ceremony has been performed for the construction of a 541,410.48-Ghana-Cedi Operating Theatre for the Akim Oda Government Hospital.
Mr. Kwabena Nkansah-Asare, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Birim Central, said work on the project would be undertaken by Somotrust Company Limited, with funding from the Urban Development Grant (UDG) Three.
Mr. Nkansah-Asare said the construction firm has nine months to complete the work. He stated that the project was a manifestation of the government’s “Better Ghana Agenda”.
The MCE said the Assembly was working diligently and assiduously to help develop Akim Oda township and its communities, to enhance the standard of living of the inhabitants.
Dr. Kwabena Awotwe Wiredu, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, thanked the Assembly for the project, which he described as timely, and thanked Mr. William Agyapong Quaittoo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Oda, for donating borehole and two ergo meter bicycles for the hospital.
The Medical Superintendent used the occasion to make a passionate appeal to the government and benevolent organizations to assist the Hospital with a stand-by generating set, an ambulance, a modern male ward, adding that, there was no general surgeon and gynecologist.
Nana Akua Asantewaa, Queen-mother of the Akim Kotoku Traditional Area, Obrempong Gyamfi Saforo Kyereh, Krontihene, the M.P. and other stakeholders were among dignitaries at the function.
