Chiropractic Association holds Holiday Wellness Lecture in Tema

Tema, Dec. 26, GNA - Dr. Olu Akinshemoyin, President of the Chiropractic Association of Ghana has used the Christmas festivities, to educate the public on some spinal diseases and activities that cause the ailments. The Holiday Wellness Lecture was on the theme: "Ghana: Get Fit for Life."

Dr. Akinshemoyin who is also the Managing Director of the First Choice Chiropractic Centre, said excessive eating of fatty and sugary foods, increased one's chances of suffering from heart diseases, stroke and diabetes.

He said cholesterol in the body could narrow one's arteries and prevent adequate blood from reaching the heart.

Dr. Akinshemoyin expressed regret that, due to ignorance, most Ghanaians carried heavy loads on their head, shoulders and back. He said such practices affected the spine, compressed the nerves in the neck and broke down the central nervous system. Dr. Akinshemoyin advised Ghanaians to be very careful with their postures such as seating, standing, and sleeping, because wrong positions, could affect the spine.

He asked the people to exercise their bodies frequently, and go for orthopaedic and physical examinations to ensure healthy lifestyles. 26 Dec. 09
